Hi folks, I have been away for a good while, since my old W95 would no longer handle Seti. I am back with WXP and dowloaded the recommended 'client'. It seems to be killing my PC. Would it help if I downloaded another version? I noticed there was one option with no graphics for instance. I can get nothing else done the way things are at present. Any help would be much appreciated. :( |

Any help would be much appreciated. :( Silly billy, me. I am entirely new to this level of complexity, the old Seti was happy working by itself. I have set preferances now for it to opperate only when idle...this I trust will sort things out. Many thanks to those that have answered this (similar) query below. :) |

The screensaver is very much optional, just turn it off . Unlike Seti classic which was based around a screensaver, Seti on Boinc has a screensaver for people who just can't let go of the old ways and like pretty pictures and wasting CPU cycles. If you have any questions just ask. BTW a lot of people run Boinc 24/7 on very slow machines with W98. I did for a year. The graphics can cause problems on older machines.
