Hi, i've been getting the same error for about 3 days now, if it uploads a file of say 15.3kb is displays progress 100% 16.5/15.3Kb sent. it sends more info than the file size itself, then after a few minutes it starts over from 0% again. it downloads new workunits and starts to work on them but cannot upload any results, here are the messages:

There are several possibilities:

1) You have the wrong IP address. BOINC has changed (a couple of weeks ago) its ISP, and the IP addresses changed.

2) The MTU setting is wrong. Invalid settings can work for downloads and not uploads.

3) You have a firewall that is preventing the uploads somehow.

also,

If you run 2 or more projects and you have the misfortune that,
2 or more different projects trying to up/download at the same time
one of them can try to connect to the wrong project on some rare occasions. (captured with a packet sniffer)
Ermm...at least with Boinc 5.4.11.
I this happens i close and restart the Boinc manager and the problem is solved.

nah, just running seti

1. What is the new IP address and how do I change it to the correct IP address in boinc?

2. MTU? I'm not actually sure what that is, but where can I check that the settings are correct?

the strange thing that I've noticed is that it only does this with 1 upload, all the other files uploads fine, but when I abort the transfer and "delete" the result, the next upload fails....

But ignore the strange thing, I think it can be the IP or MTU thingy

This is likely to be an MTU problem.

I am assuming that you have a router of some sort. The MTU setting is there, and you can check to see if it is too high with:

"ping boinc.ssl.berkeley.edu -l SIZE" Where SIZE is replaced by your MTU setting. Many routers default to 1500, and some connection protocols require a smaller value. Once you find the setting, you can try different values of SIZE to see what works.

I think you're on the right track here,

when I ping seti with mtu 1500 I get a ping timeout but with 50 I get around 1sec - 4sec... problem is, cannot change mtu, my modem is a SAMSUNG D600 cell phone :-/

The other uploads are going through, I'm going to delete this result that cannot send and see what happens

thanks for the help so far

Actually, you can set it on the computer. Read this article: http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/columns/cableguy/cg0704.mspx
