9 years completed today, starting my 10th year tomorrow.
What kind of computer power we'll be using at the 20 year mark?

I also passed the "9 years with SETI" milestone yesterday.

I was working on a helpdesk at BT in Colindale, London NW9, and one of my co-workers had this interesting screen-saver running on his Windows 95 PC, I think it was a Compaq P200.

As we were in the second-line team, we were allowed to install software on our work PCs so I also installed SETI@home on my workstation, and then installed it at home too on my 486DX2 66, and later on my flatmate's PIII 450.

I soon added a P 233 MMX, which was crunching regularly until a few month ago.

I'm in.

Nine years and not so much as a ghost of an echo of a whisper of E.T., never mind picking up the galactic welcome beacon inviting us to the party. That was a load of coal-fired, polluting, global warming electricity well spent. Oh well, keep trying.

As I type this: Ready to send = 0

Situation normal then.

Nine year anniversary coming up in a few days. *yay*

I've decided to stop doing SETI and do Rosetta full force at the ten year mark. I posted why in the science forum...

(Lost all my classic work though. I registered with two accounts back in '99, an .EDU and a .MIL. All my classic work was on the .EDU, which I've long forgotten both the exact email address and password. Luckily, remembered my .MIL account password that I used, but that account did very little work. Oh well.)

I didn't remember until now, almost 3 months after the 9th anniversary. But got a treat for it: I replaced my most productive host to a dual core that crunches almost five times what the old one used to...

So, thanks for all the time crunching together.
