Sorry Dotsch, I thought I'd emailed you already. I detached / rebooted /attached (using your supplied url) and still get the same thing. It does attach, it downloads the png files but the executables and WU transfers still error. |

Any news ? - Did the problem still happens ? In the debug output from Temujin was some connection attempts to a wrong IP shown. Tremujin, could you please try to detach and attach again with the right project URL (setiathome.berkeley.edu) and look if this happens again. |

In a other thread a other user reported this problem, too. Hi, my Seti is working again. I dont`t know what happened, but after some hours he was able to download correctly and is now doing calculations again. |

In a other thread a other user reported this problem, too. Could please someone enable the debuging and mail me (seti_boinc at dotsch.de) the compressed output. To enable the debbuging : - stop the boinc client - create a file called "cc_config.xml" with following contents : <cc_config> <log_flags> <file_xfer>1</file_xfer> <http_debug>1</http_debug> <http_xfer_debug>1</http_xfer_debug> </log_flags> </cc_config> - start the boinc client "./boinc > out 2>&1" - make some download / upload tries To disable the debugging stop the BOINC client, remove the file and restart it again. |

No changes on the Network Proxy. I've had the same problem with 1 linux machine on my home network since Feb 5th. I restarted boinc, restarted network and eventually restarted the machine. Nothing worked. I eventually gave up on seti and moved that machine to Einstein. |

No changes on the Network Proxy. And I don`t use a Proxy. I have restarted the client several times. Reboot is out of question, as this is my Mail,Web,FTP,DB,... Server |

What excatly have you changed in your network config ? Have you restarted the BOINC client or rebooted ? - A reboot could also be fine. GUI RPC is only the communication between the BOINC client and the BOINC manager and boinc_cmd. I have searched around the forums, and did not found any problem reports for server problems in the moment. Also, I had no problems to download and upload my WUs the last days. Btw. do you use a proxy server with/without authentication ? |

Hi folks, Yes, I restarted it several times. Always the same messages. I also restarted nscd, same. I just Downloaded the Windows Version, which was working fine. So these looks like a problem here with Linux At the moment I started it without the GUI RPC. Now I don`t get any file_xfer messages at all, even with GUI RPC enabled. I`m lost |

Hi folks, I am a Windows guy not a Linux guy but there are plenty of workunits available. Your problems could be in the DNS cache. In Windows we open a command window and type "ipconfig /flushdns". This flushes the caching of the DNS cache. Version 5.8.11, which I notice you are using, is supposed to do this all by itself. Basically you have a problem but the problem is not lack of units. I do have one Linux machine, something I am trying, which is why I am here in the Linux group in the first place, is getting units just fine. Have you tried just stopping Boinc and then restarting it?

Hi folks, I heard that there is some working going on on the network settings for seti, but my client isn`t working since several days now, so I dont`t know if this is related to the network changes. Here is a log of my client running under linux: 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [---] Starting BOINC client version 5.8.11 for i686-pc-linux-gnu 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [---] log flags: task, file_xfer, sched_ops 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [---] Libraries: libcurl/7.16.0 OpenSSL/0.9.8d zlib/1.2.3 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [---] Data directory: /root/boinc/BOINC 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [---] Processor: 1 AuthenticAMD AMD Sempron(tm) 2300+ [fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 mmx fxsr sse pni syscall mp mmxext 3dnowext 3dnow] 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [---] Memory: 1.96 GB physical, 2.00 GB virtual 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [---] Disk: 71.16 GB total, 3.31 GB free 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [SETI@home] URL: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID: 3010334; location: home; project prefs: home 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [---] General prefs: from SETI@home (last modified 2007-02-01 09:42:46) 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [---] Host location: home 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [---] General prefs: no separate prefs for home; using your defaults 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [SETI@home] Sending scheduler request: Requested by user 2007-02-19 10:15:04 [SETI@home] (not requesting new work or reporting completed tasks) 2007-02-19 10:15:10 [SETI@home] Scheduler RPC succeeded [server version 507] 2007-02-19 10:15:10 [SETI@home] Deferring communication for 11 sec 2007-02-19 10:15:10 [SETI@home] Reason: requested by project 2007-02-19 10:17:12 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Started download of file 19ap00aa.8521.2001.267348.3.117 2007-02-19 10:17:15 [SETI@home] [file_xfer] Temporarily failed download of 19ap00aa.8521.2001.267348.3.117: file not found 2007-02-19 10:17:15 [SETI@home] Backing off 3 hr 1 min 4 sec on download of file 19ap00aa.8521.2001.267348.3.117 I get this file_xfer thing several times. Is this a real problem, or only a cause of the work on the network config ? Thanks in advance, Christian |
