Yes!

My first GUI 16 bit machine was an Atari 512 ST, bought back in 1988. This was my work machine, with colour monitor and Cannon BJ10 inkjet printer. I could not affor a Mac.

This then metamorphed in to an ST with 4 Mb of RAM, twin 1.44HD floppies and a 100 Mb SCSI hard disk, about 1990. A very advanced spec for it's time

I used this machine for work, and working from home untin Christmas 1995. I then bought my first PC, a Win95 machine. I had no learning curve for the OS as I cane from the Atari that did the same 8 years earlier.

Interestingly the PC and Atari could swap RTF documents (printed word, and spreadsheets) as the floppies could be formatted by the Atari in the DOS format. I transferred many reports, as these became needed, to MS Word.

The whole system is still working and sits in my loft for posterity.

My youngest son used to use the system for his music, which was useful as the S had built in Midi ports.

btw Chris - you still play your axe today? what brand of wires do u use?
do your neighbors have anything to say regarding your gain levels?
and do you compose your own songs / music etc . . .?

Little bit of a sad story here Richard. I was in a group once in my late teens, and have always played some sort of guitar, rhythm, bass, acoustic, etc. Unfortunately, during the last 10 years I've had Dupuytren's contracture, and had two operations on my left hand, and one on my right.

For over 40 years I'd dreamed about owning a real professional electric guitar, and about 5 years ago I got offered a second hand Fender Strat in mint condition, so I bought it. But now I can't play the XXXXXX thing! Barre's are out unless I use a capo, and as for the status quo stuff (my true love) forget it. Ok I can basically knock a tune out but......

I've got quite a collection of guitars & amps, I'll see if I can find the time to take some pics and post them.

edit - p.s. no I dont write/compose, just your avaerage 12 bar blues merchant doing copies

My days of fishing were a long time ago, 1957 to 1964 in North Cornwall, going after mackerell, bass, wrass and mullett. The mackerelling was good, and we usially hauled about 10 stone of fish a time. If I remember rightly, there was about 30 mackerell to the stone.

Excellent, and paid for out fuel, boat upkeep and entertainment.
