Can anyone of you bright guys explain the difference related to the time used to crunch these wu.
We all get the same credit(OK) How come the big difference in the used time. Different OS is the answer to this or what? I have XP sp2 and use the most. The other has W2000 and use 800 sec approx.
Can I improve my PC in any way (no OC)? Thanks in advance.

Your best place to start is the optimized apps thread stickied at the top of the page...

If you look closely the 3ksec and 4 ksec times have been processed with pent 4 computers using the stock application. The 823sec result was using and overclocked core 2 duo using chickens optimised application.

The C2D cpu is probably 2 times faster than the P4's at stock speed and OC'd faster still, and using chicken's optimised app will have decreased the time by 30% or so. So the much faster crunching time is probably as expected.

Follow FMatson's advise and use the optimised app.
