For the last week most peoples RAC's have been lowering. Out of all my machines the fastest are slowing down the most and the slowest machine is now Higher than it has ever been. Has someone done something thinking they are leveling the playing field between fast and slow computers?

Look at your pending credits. I'll be they have been accumulating. The fast machines have been racking up the pending credits waiting on the slower machines 'cuz of the 58.7s and the DNS changes that have kept some rigs from reporting anything at all. I have almost a full day's worth of crunching in pending status. If that don't wreak havoc on your RAC, nothing will.

Yep, I will just keep crunching away and dream about the Quad core I want to build, Love that pic of your cats...

Well, I still think that there should remain bonusses for the type of signals you detect.
The 3 or 4 people that process the unit that detects a near certain ETI signal should get a 1000 points extra on the unit they processed imho.

There seems to be some recovery from the RAC lows now. My pending credit is still high but off its highs. Better units are being issued - those with more credits-per-hour yield. But the latter depends on machine and cruncher. It would be nice if credits-per-hour were constant with each machine and cruncher (with percent devotion in mind), and each machine would earn credit in accordance with its computation power and percent devotion to Boinc projects. But these are ideals. Maybe they will be approached in the future.

I think its related to the result reporting problems many people are having, which is related to their DNS caches needing updating.

Reason I think this?

Most of the recent units spit out by my fastest machine are waiting for enough results from other people to be awarded credit, highest my credit que has gotten was 800 credits waiting to be awarded (its still over 500 atm).

My slower machines get nearly instant credit for their work, because faster machines already reported in on the same WU's.

If I'm not mistaken, most of these problems will go away automaticly in a few days, when DNS has propagated worldwide and the experimenting with network setups at the Seti lab have finished.
They are testing new network configs at the moment and I'm guessing that with that are some new IP's and maybe even a new hostname here and there.

I'm having no reporting problems at all which I think is because I run my own DNS servers which flush caches much faster and more often then your average ISP DNS server.

Just wait it out, things will settle down soon enough.

EDIT: I just checked, almost all of the units that have been waiting to get credit granted are 60+ credit ones.
