The P5B DeLuxe is a good choice (I'm using it myself for my E6600). Nice to overclock, solid and stable :-)

I am running gentoo linux on my machine. thats f**ked up, I have to re-compile the whole system.. That takes a week.. *cry*

Shit that means new ram, cpu and mobo.

... and probably a new graphics card (not to mention the whole OS/Programs/Update installations... D'oh!... had this a couple of months ago, took me two days to assemble and reinstall all...)

[Edit] If you're using WinXP, you'll probably have to reinstall your OS anyway (because of the low-level system drivers loaded on startup). XP doesn't like a replacement of the MoBo, and you're most lucky, if you find a new MoBo, that fits to your former OS installation [/Edit]

However, if your MoBo is broken and need to be replaced, you'll have to pull out the CPU anyway ;-)

What type is your old MoBo? Any specifications available?

Depends on the socket type or your CPU. Is it a socket 478 (AKA Northwood) or 775 (AKA Prescott) CPU? As far as I know the P5Bs only support socket 775 CPUs (since I know you're from Germany, have a look at e.g. Arlt for infos on the P5B or even on the Asus homepage)
