But look at the last two lines. Is there anything I can do about this?

Have you compiled the SETI application, too ? - If not, you need to compile the SETI application, or download it from the third party site : boinc.berkeley.edu/download_other.php. Stefan Urbat has a complete package for PPC Linux.

I compiled it too get it installed, so its up and running but i think because it says:

Sun Jan 21 15:46:04 2007|SETI@home|Message from server: platform 'powerpc64-unknown-linux-gnu' not found
Sun Jan 21 15:46:04 2007|SETI@home|No work from project

As far as the "Stefan Urbat has a complete package for PPC Linux" is concerned I tried those first and they wont run. If it helps I am running Gentoo and I compiled it using emerge -v boinc which compiles and installs the package because there was no pre-compiled binary.

edit:
On second look are you saying other than Boinc I need to compile seti its self?

You need the BOINC client and the SETI application, too. Also you need to place a app_info.xml in the directory projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu/.
The project did not offer binaries for other platforms directly from the server, so a manual installation with the app_info.xml is needed.

Hm, why did Stefan's package not run ? - Is this a problem with the Cell architecture ?
If this would not run, you need to compile it yourself. There was also a thread in the number crunching forums some time ago about this toppic.

I'm pretty sure it has something to do with how I was trying to run it(linux novice). I can get around in linux but im not extremly fluent in it. So since my last post I have gone back and compiled setiathome and a earlier boinc which was required for the setiathome package. I just seem to be running into a problem with getting boinc to talk to localhost says i am not giving the correct password but I got past this last night by a reboot but not the case tonight...

Edit:

Got boinc gui to sync with the process finally and these are the results im getting.

You need to use the app_info.xml : http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_porting.php
Stop the BOINC client, create and edit the app_info.xml and copy it to $BOINCDIR/projects/setiathome.berkeley.edu.
Start the BOINC client with "./boinc -update_prefs http://setiathome.berkeley.edu".

A volunteer has ported the SETI application to Linux on PS3. The application uses the SPEs and have a good performance. Please look at this thread : http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=39910
Btw. SIMAP has applications for PS3 on Linux, too, and PS3Grid is a BOINC based project with binaries only for the PS3.
