Message 503828 - Posted: 16 Jan 2007, 0:49:31 UTC

Greetings,

For the past couple weeks I have started a website to help out new users. It is still very much in development. It will not act as a replacement for the Unofficial Boinc Wiki or any of the FAQ's or Skype (Boinc's online help system)

I have a Blog up and running for development updates, and a forum in place to point out errors or corrections.

As per usual ad revenue will go directly to the project most in need of funds (at the moment this is Seti@home) until I go to an upgraded geocities plan in which case I will take off the cost of hosting from the revenue. This upgrade will not be coming shortly. More Info will be made available on the website.

oh man....what's with the double scroll bars again??

I would suggest that you have a link to your "unofficial S@H" page as well.

BTW - read the blog...so there isn't a way to create a frame at the bottom of the site that will keep the ads in the bottom frame and not at the bottom of the each page??

what if you were to create a blank page with just the Google adsense code and nothing else....then have the bottom frame display that site...

I think that might work but it has been awhile since I have done HTML and I barely have a working comp at the moment.

let me know

Double scroll bars? in the unnofficial s@h page?
I'll look into it.

That will be included in the long run... in the short run just get the help up to users who need it.

I think it depends on the browser window size you're running. I'm using 1280x1024 and most pages there is none. The second one is probably controlling the Yahoo Geocities ad panel.

Very good initiative popandbob. Sometimes sites like Boinc-Wiki can be a little overwhelming to the novice user. It will be very useful, specially the "Boinc Settings" section. I'm looking forward to its completion.

Regards,
Wander

Thanks for reply and motivation. I found the Wiki very confusing and overwhelming, and to think im not a novice!

In the long run I hope to have everything a new user (and even advanced users) might ask.

Thanks again,
BoB

I haven't had a chance to look zt the problem yet. Hopefully Sunday.

Thanks for the compliment.

$83.28 has been rasied by google adsence, over $15 of that in the last seven days.

Haven't had much time to work on the help pages lately but others are free to help. Also I am looking for volunteers to help look into/start a new project. Please see the help pages forum.

Thanks,
~BoB

I have had almost zero time to work on the Unofficial Boinc Help Pages lately. Anyone wishing/willing to help is most welcome to, and any help will be appreciated not only by me but by everyone who does and will use these help pages. No html experience is necessary.

Thank you,
BoB
