I thought I was the only Doctor Who fan in Canada?

By no means!

Thanks for the quick reply Michael, but this brings up another question.......what happens when I "initiate transfer"? Does this mean I take control of the team?? I'm not exactly a computer guru like a lot of you. (this is my first computer in 6 or 7 years!) Therefore not in the best position to "rally the troops". I think that Canadian super group RUSH said it the best "Whoa! Whoa! You can be the captain and I will draw the charts. Sailing into destiny. Closer to the heart!"

Sorry for being so long winded......but I AM of Italian descent! Nyuk Nyuk

I've heard that the Captain of the Napoli is looking for a job........

Graeme.

And so the thread dies, lol, with two moderators hacking each other. Does anybody have any ideas what they would like to see on the website? I was thinking some stats, a forum, Canadian humour, eh?

I defer to the "rules of lol" which states if someone uses that in a sentence it cannot be considered a complaint. In fact it implies permission. :)

I didn't notice that particular implication....lmao

However, I must say that it would probably be better if we continued our little discourse in the normal place....a.k.a. the Calm Chaos thread...lol

I would hate to hijack another team's thread. :-)

Hi Tony/Pawly,

Have you decided yet if you want to have a site where all Team Canada's are welcome? I have just done an "Initiate Transfer" on "Canada" over at Docking@Home. I'm the only one left crunching for the team. It's in Alpha and is invite only at the moment. I'm hoping it will grow once it goes Beta. I'd like to link the team to a Team Canada website if one gets started.

Thanks,
Bill

Hi Buffalo Bill,

That is my hope right now, I'm sure that Tony would agree that all are welcome. These things take time (as I'm learning!lol) and rest assured that when it happens we will be spreading the word. Keep checking this thread and spread the word yourself about these plans, the more people we can get interested in this idea the better chance we have at success!!

Stats would be good - a lot of members out there quietly crunching away and, as typically as the "I Am Canadian" commercial, not getting too involved unless something ticks them off. Forum also - Canadian humour a must, and inevitable...

Hi tahansen, thought we lost ya! Excellent ideas, I would like to see a picture gallery and a music section. All in good time though.

Keep the ideas coming folks!!

CONGRATULATIONS BUFFALO BILL !!

Looks like things are beginning to come together! I really hope we can make this work, Like mentioned in the Rosetta Thread , I think it would be great if we could have a site for all the Canadian BOINC teams to mix and mingle.

I think this calls for a little discreet flag waving!

Hey guys and gals. Check out our forums ( No you don't have to join our team ) and see if that might be the kind of thing you are looking for. If so, I can contact our forum admin and get the info on what system we are using.

Short of setting up a website, a forum system might be a pretty good way to set up a place for all the teams to get together. :-)

( I normally would leave my signature out of my posts here, but there is a link to our forums so you can check them out if you want. )

Good Morning KM,

Just as I turned on my screen this mornin' the notification popped up for this thread! lol Timing is everything.

That forum style DOES seem to be very popular around the net for various groups. I think it would serve us well. HHhhhmmmm.....I wonder if we could get a ".ca" suffix? Trivial but I think that would be cool.

Thanks again for your support. I'm taking it upon my self to make you and all the other moderators here honorary Hosers!

And now, Our theme song! Still a favourite of mine. EH!

Congratulations!! Your Kenora Dinner Jackets and Back bacon should be in the mail soon!!!

WOOHOO!!!! I am an honorary Hoser!!!

I knew living this close to Canada would actually be good for something one day....lol

Thanks Pawly!!! :-)

About the .ca suffix....I really am not sure. Our FA set up his own server.

One thing you could do is have someone go to a couple of the free web hosting services ( just do a Google search for them ) and ask their technical support about it. It's entirely possible that you could go ahead and purchase the .ca domain name for Team Canada.

Why do I get the idea you have been a Hoser all your life?

Didn't you play Harold on the Red Green show?

I've been giving the name some thought, whadda ta think?

Boincers And Canadians Own Network = www.BACON.ca

Canadian Boincers Coalition = www.CBC.ca, I think this one is already taken

Boinc Benefits Canada = www.BBC.ca, as is this one

Boinc Leaders Of Canada = www.BLOC.ca, this would be acceptable in Quebec but might cause trouble with other Canucks

Boinc Leaders And Mentors Ensemble of Canada = www.BlameCanada.ca

Boinc Canada Brings Us Deeper = www.bcbud.ca

It's still a work in progress, I'm open to suggestions.
