Unfortunately, the the one figure you haven't given us is the version of BOINC you're running. But that's OK, since your computers aren't hidden (thank goodness for that), we can see that you're running BOINC v5.8.11

Which explains it. According to the main developer, David Anderson,
Yes, these are bogus (but harmless) messages.
I checked in a change that gets rid of them.
-- David

It's a false alarm - you can ignore the messages, and SETI should carry on crunching just fine. You DON'T have to reset anything just because of this.

The sooner we can get this dreadful v5.8.11 off the 'recommended' download page, the better. You can already get 5.8.15 from the 'All versions' page.

Initially I dumped SETI@HOME and reloaded it.It came back with all my figures and started crunching again.Somewhere along the line, all units came back pending while SETI idly accumulates pending points (around 600?). Is there a fix? Reset? Administrative look over?

I can only beleive SETI is just continuing to idly crunch and toss all results in the pending box. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Michael aka Mikey7155

Hi Mikey, everything appears to be OK. Results go into pending until 3 users have returned similar results.

SETI has been having some upload/download/reporting/validation issues over the last few days, so everyone's pendings have been higher than normal, mine are currently about 1500, but reached almost 2400 the other day.

Every Tuesday afternoon SetiAdmin closes down its servers, etc, for maintenance and repair. So most transmissions and the forums are out-of-action. There is a catch-up period after the blackout terminates.

Peter

You can view the Servers they need at Donate Hardware to SETI@home

If you want to contact off list al.setiboinc (at) gmail.com I will put you in touch with Eric.

Could someone let me know the cost of the replacement server.

Thank You for your concern!

Pappa, i am considering being generous and donating the amount of money the server would cost and that money to be used to replace Miss Kryten (it is a girl?)and therefore my question - make it easy for me and give me all the info for a bank to bank transfer-but as i said, if yu really need a replacement then that money spent on replacement.

Peter

I understand. As I said I can put you in touch with Eric after you email me... Then Eric can provide the assurance the money will be spent on the Needed Server...

Generally, if it comes to me and I reply then Eric has you email address for a reply without the hassle of getting through his email filter...
The second part is I normally notify him by phone that there is an email of interest... Otherwise, he has quite a few/day and sometimes with work "happening" gets delayed for a bit...

You are also welcome to email him directly... His email address is "Eric J Korpela <korpela (at) ssl.berkeley.edu>" Just replace the (at) with the @ symbol on your keyboard. The first thing that will happen is you will receive an automated response with what you have to do to get accepted by the SPAM Filter... After that you email what you want to say... My first reply took six days...

So generally what I send gets filtered into a folder which informs him there is something from me and he looks... Things like hardware I for warn him so that he looks "quicker."

Two or three days ago I saw that damn long sign come up on each computer saying that a certain "DLL" file was out-of-order. Thanks to Geek@Play I went to his reference site and applied the repair. No more signs, but I did see the cache on just one of my machines shrink and red messages there. That got me worried but time resolved that problem, too. "El tiempo da buen consejo." (Time gives good advice - Time will tell). I guess that something was tied up at Berkeley, but, why wasn't the other computer affected, too?

It would appear that uploading is not the only problem.

I noted this morning that the Knights..., BoincStats, Combined Stats, etc. have not updated their result credit totals since 4/10. I've accrued nearly 5000 credits since their last update, and after three days, the rankings are completely inaccurate (or more-so now than normal).

I have also experienced some downloading problems over the past week. Some of these downloads continually retried for up to 2 days, before I finally aborted them. Once the problem downloads were aborted however, the project managed to kick off new download requests which were successful. I had to abort about a half-dozen jobs on two different computers between 4/7 and 4/11.

In the past 24 hours, uploading and downloading problems seem to have been resolved, but I can't help wondering if these problems with Kryten might also (still) be creating the problems noted with the stat aggregation folks.(?)
