Got this strange WU. 5 people have returned results (including me), and the minimum quorum is 3. However, no credit has been given, and all results are pending validation.

Strange WU

Might have been one of those with an initial validate error that got re-sent and is waiting for another one to be returned before validation is re-triggered. Or it might be one where non of them strongly agree, it has happened before, I had one that took seven good returns before it validated, but we all got credit. Keep fingers crossed.

I would think the former.

I guess you could subtitle this thread 'A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Quorum'.

All in good fun, Eric. Gotta look at things from the lighter side once in a while. Keep up the good work. Whatever you did to Kryten seems to have calmed the tantrums down for the moment.

Hi!

Just spotted few remains of last problems.
There are several results, three validated, others pending.
Looks like validator thinks it is validated, assimilator it waits for validation.

Examples:

http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=108666515

Here's another WU that didn't complete it's validation for 3 of the Results.

I had a couple of results like this, you just need to wait.

When the result still in progress is either finished or timed-out the validator will grant the credits to the pending results.

Yes, indeed. Just saw one, listed below.
Missing one was time-outed today, and validation was repeated.

Maybe already assimilated WU

The ones that are still Pending were returned on the 8th and 9th.

The ones with results were returned on the 10th, 11th, and 13th and should have triggered the first three at the time of validation.

I had one before where all of the Results were either Pending or were given credit. I'm not holding my breath for the remaining Result to trigger the first 3.

Like I said just wait, mine where also returned before the results already granted credit. It is a after effect from resetting validation errors.

It's weird, because even though the web page says "pending" for those results, they have been granted credit.

mysql> select validate_state,claimed_credit,granted_credit from result where id=451320177;
*************************** 1. row ***************************
validate_state: 0
claimed_credit: 62.4637255960425
granted_credit: 62.4637255960425

For some reason their validate_state wasn't set to 1 when credit was granted. I've started a query that should fix the problem. It might take a few hours to run, though.

Eric

Eric Korpela
Hoping you will read this or have this relayed on to you. You have done marvels on clearing the validation errors pointed out on this thread. There is only one item (as far as I have seen) that is still outstanding:

http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=23394304

This goes back to the thorny problem of 10th August 2005 "Stale Results" of which there are numerous.
Is there any way a "magic wand" routine can be run to eliminate all these work units that are refusing to clear from the database? There are details of individual units noted at:

http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=37157
and
http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=34996

Although I am not one of them, you will make many crunchers very happy to clear these agravations, now 18 months old. All units concerned were created on 10th August 2005, and possibly just need to have a flag reset?

Eric has been asked to come and look as he has time...

So if You can identify other results that are still hanging around and post them that would be helpful.

New Information about Needed Hardware can be found in the Donate Hardware II Thread.

Simon has the Official PayPal Seti Donations Page Running.. If you can not help with the Hardware, you you might be able to help with a few PayPal dollars towards the needed items.
