On the other hand, there are limits of decency.

To a great extent these are adhered to fairly well but, imposition of moderation and temperance
is not censorship. Use of foul or abusive words and phrases is unnecessary and usually gratuitous.

Attacks on team members or other participants personalities, habits, morals, beliefs, etc. are,
or at least should be, obviously out of bounds. Expressed ideas are fair game to discuss,
but not to denigrate, ridicule, or disparage the person holding that idea or belief

< NOTE: i have heard / read quite a few 'commentary' regarding various issues @ SETI BOINC, and if you have

any 'Constructive' Information / Critiques / Comments re: [i]please feel free to voice yourself . . .

> quote: excerpted - Article V

Right: The participant shall enjoy the presumption of innocence, the right to a speedy resolution,

and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation by the project team; to be informed of the evidence,

and to have an independent mediator. Likewise, the project has the same reciprocal right to request mediation with

the additional right to combine similar grievances into one action. . . .

Responsibility: To accept that until resolution of a situation that some other rights may be temporarily

suspended, for example the "masking" of offensive posts, until the situation is resolved. The right to mediation

implies the acceptance of the finality of the mediation. Abuse of the mediation process by a participant lodging

"frivolous" requests can result in the loss of the privilege for all projects in the BOINC Community, choose wisely . . . .

Benefits: People that believe that they can get an independent look are more likely to accept an adverse action. . . . .

No Idea what this is all about Richard, but it's a real shame when anybody who has been pretty prominent leaves, either through choice, or any other reason. I would ask that you take some time out to reconsider.

"We are Borg."

I'd like to comment on your profile Jw; the last half of your last sentence to be precise.

"I do Very much Believe that there is more LIFE in this Universe, than Anyone has ever Dreamed Possible!"

That's a good comment.

Thanks ICE,

I tried to give a Proper Prospective of my View on life other than our own in my Pro, I just wish intergalactic travel was Possible for "US", at the present time!

I've been slackin on seti for a While, kinda into other things right now, Maybe I'll fire the old Overclocked X2 up again and get back to some serious Crunchin!

Thanks for the Comment,

Regards, Jw

Hi Richard, My name is Scott, and I am going to post a few comments...

One thing that I have learned from various places on the internet, is that there will always be someone that "gets under someone elses skin"...

I don't know what happened, and I am not sure I want to know the details...
But what I can see from this thread is that there are more than a few people whom enjoy your input (Richard)...
I like what you posted about what the threads are supposed to be for...
I have been bashed myself a few times on other threads, and it taught me a few things...

One thing is that everyone is entilted to their own opinion and if that opinion is hostile or insulting, keep it to yourself...

These message boards are set up so people can talk about common interests, lets keep it that way...

Richard, I wouldn't let it bother you, whatever was said... Like I already said, there are more than a few people that enjoy your input...

Hi ShyrDavid.

This board is moderated, and there's a lot of moderators here. Nobody, not nobody the poster but nobody, are allowed to post hostile or insulting posts to others here, and if somebody does, the red-x function is there to call for a moderator.

Nobody, and here I mean nobody as the poster, knows this well. He can use this function also, and then a moderator or several of us will take a look at the alleged offensive post and then decide if it should be deleted.

Thats good to know...
I was just posting my feelings on the matter...
Everyone is intitled to their opinion...
But the opinions that get posted have to be respectful to other members...
People will always have a difference of opinion, that is what makes for good conversation...

Like I said before, I don't know what happened, and I don't really want to know...
What I do know is that Richard has made a lot of posts here, and I would hate to see a member that contributes to the conversation as much as he does disappear over something...

After all, the title of the thread is "POST a COMMENT"...
I read the thread and posted what I thought about it...

I am not out to point fingers or judge, I am just here for the conversation...

Scott Shaver...

P.S. I checked out your site Richard... Excellent eye...

Thanks Mate . . . 'Understood' - (i'm not actually 'bothered by' . . . . .)

i have more or less a concern for a Project that's a whole lot more to do

with the "Science' rather than with 'certain matters' that should - for all

intents and purposes - be dealt with according to a 'Set of Rules' - as in

Engagement - that which - as my History shows - and that which doesn't show -

even though i have that History intact (copied / archived) - that i don't have

much in the way of going after those that have a mis-understanding (or

whatever) - i have had a tendency to let all things 'breeze by me' - per se -

in the Past (almost Seven Years now) . . . and i plan on continuing as i always

have - and that is to do the Science and Believe that one day the Rules shall

be applied / complied with, etc. I have enjoyed the Past Seven Years and have

met many a new Friend - that which i don't take on the light side - they each

know who they are and i am Proud of the Friendship and Commaradarie it instills

in others . . .

Long Live SETI / BOINC . . . . and again - Thanks to Each of You

- iT's worth being here - to say the least . . .
