kde se dozvÃÂm jestli mé hledánàbylo úspěšné The SETI@home: Procedures for Public Announcement is given here. Basically, it is a long process. It is not just your PC, but three other pc's which are crunching the same result. Also the work unit is actually split up from the original recorded source into smaller units to allow for easy distribution. So the other corresponding work units should also show the same signal. Then other observatories around the world will have to l;ook for the same signal and confirm it. Once all this is done, they may declare that they have found an artificial signal. The signal will then probably have to be decoded by other specialists who will try to decipher any meaningful content out of it. It is not necessary that the signal will contain any meaningful data. However the fact that it is artificial will confirm the existence of extra-terrestrial life. So you see, it will take some time for you to know if you have found an extra-solar civilization....;-) |
