I have a similar problem.I show my situation below. Do you have "Do work while computer in use" set to yes or no? If it is no, do you have it set to run based on preferneces? If so, some of the graphics cards seem to indicate that the screen saver is activity. So there are three things to try. 1) Select run always rather than based on preferences. 2) select to run while user is active. 3) Try using the default or blank screen saver. BOINC WIKI |

i have got the same question but i didnt want to start a new thread. You should be able to go to Control Panel -> Display -> Screen Saver -> in the drop down select BOINC. If it is already selected, let us know. BOINC WIKI |

i have got the same question but i didnt want to start a new thread. - i am running it on WinXp Pro. - i installed it as single user. - its not running as a service as far as i can tell. i would like it to show the good ol' fashion screen saver, the one with the graph showing the analysis and the progress. is there anyway to get it to show that, or even make it so that it displays that instead of the current simple manager? or hell even over the top of the simple manager.. either way i hope you guys can help me out with this. thanks. |

I had the exact same issue. If you install this as a system service you will not have the screen saver that you want. Uninstall and select one of the first two options. then then screen saver you are looking for is on there by default. worked for me. You can get the screen saver running as a service. Control Panel->Administrative Tools -> Services -> RIGHT CLICK ON BOINC -> Properties -> Log On -> Local System Account -> Allow service to interact with desktop -> OK a bunch of times. BOINC WIKI |

Yes, I mean the one that shows the process as it is going. I had that one as my screensaver and now all I have in my screensavers is the boinc one.. all that is, is a boinc logo floating around on my screen. Optimized applications require (a bunch of) extra work. If you had installed one, you would know about it. Which OS are you running? The BOINC screen saver should show some words in addition to the BOINC logo. What are they? BOINC WIKI |

I think I installed as a single user and there was no option offered for an optimized application. What now? |

Years ago I ran Seti and had that great graph screensaver that showed what the computer was finding as it worked on the data. Can we still get that? |

How can I get back my seti screen saver? That is the only one I liked that I would leave the computer on all the time for.. Please be more specific. The SETI@Home screen saver is built into the SETI@Home science application. If you install BOINC and attach to SETI@Home and select BOINC as your screen saver, it will load the SETI@Home screen saver. Or are you asking something else? |
