Message 478169 - Posted: 10 Dec 2006, 15:09:37 UTC - in response to Message 478163.

I built a cats whisker radio, in the late 50's, got Luxembourg 208 no problem.

Now THAT'S a blast from the past! Is that radio station still going?

I remember buying my first "transistor" radio back in 1965. The BBC radio stations still included the Light Programme (now Radio 1)

wasn't that the 4 or 5 Transistor one?

The 500 points goes to Mikey :)

Want an additional 500 points.. Why the Name WRGB?
For 500 more points: What are three musical notes in the NBC chime and what do the stand for.

Just for the record: what we have come to know as AM radio makes WGY the first. WGY was and still is the oldest licensed broadcast station in the US.

Nope they have a very specific meaning.

(G)eneral (E)lectric (C)orporation. GE was then and is now the parent company of NBC.
