So good to see you, my friend!!! How have you been? You know my matter..... I was a little shocked to discover how much money some of us pay just to read the newspaper daily. This little advertisement in the Windsor Star drew it to my attention. In North America, the publishing industry has become very greedy over the last 15 years or so. They, as much as anyone, have been leader of rising prices and lower value...inflation at it's worst. Oha, that much money. I only read the newspaper at the weekends. Its because, i do not have enough time to read them daily. |

Good Morning, everyone! I'm hunkered and bunkered, stocked with supplies, waiting for the big storm to hit. The generator's set to go if needed and all pets are accounted for. So I've grabbed a cup of coffee and I'm reading the morning papers... Michigan Adulterers Beware! AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE DETROIT, MICH. Philanderers beware: spouses caught cheating in Michigan could end up spending the rest of their life in prison. And not the emotional kind. The state’s appeals court recently ruled that extramarital flings can be prosecuted as first-degree criminal sexual conduct, a felony by up to life in jail. "We cannot help but question whether the legislature actually intended the result we reach here today," Judge William Murphy wrote in a unanimous Court of Appeals panel, "but we are curtailed by the language of the statute from reaching any other conclusion." "Technically," he added, "any time a person engages in sexual penetration in an adulterous relationship, it's punishable; he or she is guilty of CSC I,†the most serious sexual assault charge in the state’s criminal code. Michigan still lists adultery as a felony, although no one has been convicted of the offense since 1971. So: Cheating spouses beware! LOL |

What Iraq Needs, is One Good Rapper! I want to suggest to President Bush that we should start the music industry going in Iraq right away, especially with Gangsta Rap music. 50 Cents, shown here on the cover of his album, was once shot at nine times. The idea behind this strategy? Get the violent to kill each other off! Infect them with celebrity and conspicuous consumption! Bring them explicit sex! LOL |

I'm MAD about MADD, and about what's going on in practically the whole world of charities. They've become self-serving corporations that profit their executives more than they serve the faithful donors and their cause. This story is becoming typical...and it's disgusting! ********************** MADD Canada founder kicked off committees John Bates critical of group’s fundraising practices BY SARAH MATTHEWS National Post January 18, 2007 The man who founded MADD Canada, the campaign against drinking and driving, says he feels betrayed after the organization voted him off two key committees on Monday. “I can attend board of directors meetings, but I can’t vote,†said John Bates, who was awarded the Order of Canada for his work with the organization. “I can discuss motions, I can talk about it, I can talk and get into debates, but I can’t vote on anything or make any motions. I’m pretty limited. I can have my say, but it ends there. “I felt betrayed, frankly,†Mr. Bates said yesterday from Toronto. “I am getting old. I am nearly 80 years old and I put an awful lot of money and energy into this — and I have been there since the very beginning, when it was almost expected to drink and drive.†Mr. Bates, 79, said he believes he is being punished for speaking out about what he calls the organization’s questionable fundraising techniques. However, MADD says the decision to remove Mr. Bates had nothing to do with his allegations in the press in recent weeks. “This decision was not meant to punish one person,†said Allan Newton, vice-chairman ofMADD Canada. He said the move was the result of an internal review. “The voting members of the board carry different responsibilities than the non-voting members, and our feeling is these committees should be reflective of the voting members and not the non-voting members, because the committees are the ones who make the decisions.†MADD says that although it has removed non-voting officers from committees, they will continue to welcome their input as members within the organization. Mr. Bates’ involvement in campaigning against drunk driving started in the early ’80s, following the death of a friend of his daughter’s. He started PRIDE (People to Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere), which later turned into Mothers Against Drunk Driving Canada (MADD). Recently, Mr. Bates has been quoted in the press regarding the organization’s fundraising activities. The principal accusation is that the organization spends 81% of all money raised on fundraising and administration costs — leaving only 19% to run the programs for which the money was intended. |

Fuzzy, please stay in your bed. Today we expect a heavy storm :-((( We had one last night. Just before I logged off, there was a thunderstorm here, and the wind was very heavy after I went to bed. But I fell asleep almost instantly. And today it's only raining. I will have to go out though, as I have forgotten I have a hairdresser appointment tomorrow, so I'll have to get some money from the bank. And I got a phone call about a new meeting scheduled regarding the job, I am about to get. So Monday I'll know more, when to start and what I'll be doing the first days on the job. The first three months I'll be there as an intern, and then, hopefully, I will get hired, with wage and all, as soon as possible. I will have to take the Microsoft certificates as soon as I'm able to and qualified for it. So, wonderful things are happening to me at the moment, I pushed the button. :-D "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me

Morning Fuzzy, Beets, Ice and Chris. Have a great day. Good morning Champ. Here's some refill to that coffee cup I went to bed early last night and had a good nights sleep until I was woken up but the post man, who came with the pens I've ordered from the Seti shop. And they are cool! The Hubble pen I bought for myself is really cool, and the black astronaut pen I bought for my brother is pretty cool too. It looks more like an ordinary pen than the Hubble one. I'll give it to him as an early birthday present, I think he'll be delighted. And for breakfast I had a Nashi pear, a treat, very juicy and sweet. But I'll go back to bed again now. I need some more sleep. "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me

Have a cup. Here it's the warmest winter in decades. Only a couple of night with temperatures below zero, and today it's like late October or early November, certainly not like mid January. Grey and wet, and warm. I remember one day in mid October where I went with a short sleeved shirt. Like a day in August, just the sun was that lower. Weird.
