Yep same here, I found out about the Windows only thing (don't have a Windows box handy) after I subscribed, so if anyone wants my account let me know and we'll work something out. Ciao |

So far, LHC@home only runs on Windows machines, but we are keen to extend it to other platforms in the near future, with the help of the tester communities, if possible. ... That "near future" doesn't sound too good to me (before the end of beta testing) :), but I guess just gonna have to wait and see. Thought I would gladly give the account to someone who can help them beta-test, but then again since there's no password authentication, just a random ID string, that might be a problem... |

That way if it still hoses your program you won't loose much work. |

LHC@Home has its own message boards - LHC issues should really be raised there. For those of you who missed the cut (Beta filled in less than 24 hours!) the project is scheduled to go live on 29th September, when they'll be looking for 50,000 applicants in 50 days. More info at LHC@Home Giskard - the first telepathic robot. |

But not home free yet! I have been doing pages and I have worked out (I hope) most of the problems with it. But, one thing that has slowed me down is are bugs in the browsers. But, the good news is that I can do examples from all 4 projects. Now to get the pictures and get the pages done. I am also trying to finish instrumenting the pages with counters so I can see where people spend their time. I have two machines, ooops, three machines BOINCing now. I did my Mac too... though I don't like not being able to see what the darn thing is doing. One of the two PCs is signed up for three of the projects. Though I may need to play with the resource shares more... I agree that BOINC's potential is awesome... and the progress though slower than I would wish is still amazing. I have only been able to change about 10-15 pages so far and I have been working on this for well over a month. But, it is those bugs ... figuring out what they are is hard! |

John, > LHC max user count is now 2000. Cool! Hey, John; can I talk you into taking a gander at my state description page (in your copious free time) ... Mostly I want a sanity check before I go on much further ... If you don't see anything major jump out at you let me know so I can work on finishing the first part and start working on the drawings, and the exception cases ... <p> For BOINC Documentaion: Click Me! |

> Hey Paul, you forgot to add a link. > > > For BOINC Documentaion: Click Me! > I ws just testing you! :) ... Lets see if I can find it again ... Ah, here it is ... in its new home (I moved it) ... BOINC Process The diagram is my starting base, so it has no arrows on it yet, but each major step will have its own copy so we will have the text description of what is goind on, the picture with arrows and substep indicators (numbers or letters), and the state "machine" tables that is the reflection of the BOINC System Software's changing state... I just wanted a sanity check before I spent several weeks starting off on the wrong foot ... And I know (or just saw) some major formatting errors ... <p> For BOINC Documentaion: Click Me! |

Looks reasonable. But I am not certain that I am quite familiar enough with the system to really say if there is something subtle wrong with it. I did pick up one typo baisic. |

Ok, thanks for looking... I usually defer spell checking until I have little else to do ... :) Heck, I still have 255 broken links ... 18% of my 266 pages are also failing W3C validation ... But I am trying to knock off a few of each each day. With luck I will get those numbers down too ... <p> For BOINC Documentaion: Click Me! |
