Oh dear, looks like John will likely have some sad news for us later. Like others on here, I've been there myself (3 times) and I really can sympathise. Actually it's quite often us chaps that take it the hardest on these occasions.

Good afternoon all, and apologies to Esme for not replying to her morning all post.

Been away from the screen on various things, and keeping an eye on our very old cat Minty. It's like watching a wind up clock running down, with the most rapid slowing down today.

This morning she greeted me, sat by her food and water bowl. When she got up and shot off (quite quickly) to the front door (we don't let her out now) I found she had wee'd in the carpet (first time in 19 years I recall). She then went to the bottom of the stairs (about 11.00 hours UTC) and lay down, not moving.

She walked back to her room when Sheila brought fresh food and milk, but she did not eat.

We went out to the supermarket this afternoon, then looked in on her after feeding the dogs. She is lying on her LHS by her food bowl and not moving. She is still awake/alive and aware of us, but is now clearly dying.

She is purring a lot, which usually means "don't hurt me", and I think she does not understand what is happening. It is my view she will slip away this evening.

Keep posting while Sheila and I go down to sit with her!

Pretty strange last night eh? I got here about half way through the riot.

I missed it all...I can only see the background radiation left behind.
