Don't know what the employment situation is like up there, its a long way from here. But its a good place if you like rum!!!

It's been a while since I talked to the guy. He was also trying to convince me to move there to be a General Laborer. He owns a resort and said there is a shortage of people to do stuff like painting and light carpentry.

I probably would have moved had I been able to afford it..lol

Pretty close. Not enough difference to really notice. Unless you have used one type for your whole life and then wind up not able to get it and have to switch. Then you might notice a slight difference.

Hi Youall, since I wished Dan good afternoon, especially to ... knightmare and SuperBuZz (Tom), who have livened the thread up by their suggary postings.

One way of moving the sugar is conversion to ethanol, as a biofuel to cut petrol with (renewable fuel). In the UK, British Sugat are moving in this direction to try and take some seasonality from their sales side and widen the market opportunities for the un-sold sugar. If the biofuel demand outstrips the beef supply they can make use of cane as another source.

Yep...one of our plants is being converted to an Ethanol plant. :-)

We work from Sugar Beets though. Not cane.

We are the same here, with the farmers growing beet in a 90 mile radius around the refineries/conversion plants. We have one about 12 miles from us, at the original Newark (Nottinghamshire).

However, these can convert cane sugar should the need arise. The cane will be imported.
