I've added an much larger external hard drive to the laptop, would like the processing to use that drive.

Is there a way to change the drive it's using ? I don't want to kill the internal drive.

Thanks for any ideas.

Simple.
File - Exit Boinc.
Uninstall Boinc using the Windows Control panel - Add/remove program.
The Boinc folder usually found at C:\\Program Files\\Boinc will be left intact.
Move the Boinc folder to the desired new location.
Reinstall Boinc pointing the installer to the new location.
Restart Boinc and all should continue where it left off.
You just need to remember at future manager update installs to point to the new folder location.

that will work but first try to copy boinc and move it to new drive so you don't lose your work units
if it is a usb drive they have a limited number of writes

To clarify that, limited write life refers to USB Flash devices. Portable USBHDD's should have the same life expectancies as any other drive, all other things being equal.

USBHDDS are just hard disks in a portable box. Internally they are just the same as a regular disk drive.

Just don't move them around too much when they're turned on and spinning.
