It looks like it was a server problem.

No. BOINC/Seti lib requirements are pretty modest 'vanilla Linux' and aren't dependent on any GUI being installed or changed.

Sorry I can't help with the rest, but from my experiences upload & download is still a little choppy after the recent problems.
But... it is working.

Do you use a LinkSys router ? - The "MacOS problem" with the uploads was fixed by upgrading the LinkSys to the newest firmware : http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=35220.


I have the same problem and am also using a LinkSys Router. I have no problems when i run windows. But i changed to Linux now (Kubuntu 7.04) and can now not send any results any more. In the beginning (Ubunut 7.04, without KDE) it also worked. I don't know when it changed but looking at my second computer it has some results uploaded. I cannot tell when it stopped or what I did. But what i did was installing KDE (or at least some KDE libs first). Might be that it had something to do with this, but might also be pure chance. (first I didn't even realize that it was not uploading any more)

I am using a LinkSys WRT-54 GL with Tomato Firmware build 18 Mar 2007 08:08:42 -0700
I think this is much newer than the one from the "MacOS Problem".

I'm using the same IP as with Windows but cannot upload here.

Well it DOWNLOADS, but not uploads...

95% on the second workunit - we'll see tomorrow if IT uploads...

There is a simliar thread at the Mac Help Desk Forum ( http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=34732). It looks like some peoples has problems with uploading, but download works successull.
I am still in contact with the BOINC and SETI devs. But I will gave them a update, that this problem occurs now on Linux, too.

I was getting exactly the same errors as you at, as near as I can tell, the same date & time so it's not that the errors as reported is necessarily a problem - they're what I'd call "normal" failures. ;)
Also, there are no errors logged in my stderrdae.txt for the same time range - it might be interesting to see what your file says for your date/time range too.

But, all my suspended uploads were successfully uploaded a few hours later.
That yours didn't is the mysterious part...

Maybe there's a clue in the reported "http error", which seems to me to be report of the status at the server, as opposed to your local BOINC discovering some problem with communication through http. The "Temporarily failed upload" comment also indicates to me that this is an expected, short-term duration failure.

Nothing configured in hardware in the Cisco router, and I have never had probs with it in Windows.
No proxy or anything.


Could you please retry the upload. I am not shure, if this is was a server problem. My down- and uploads hangs till about 10:00 UTC, later it worked without any problem.

Do you have any firewall activated on your system ?
Is there an router with a firewall between your system and the internet ?
Do you use a proxy server ?

I can "Retry now" and it starts, but gets a few % and fails.

"Update" doesn't seem to matter.

I have this project that I have not been able to send for a few days and one that is working at 38%
