I think the mac machines that have ~3x benchmarks are running an alternative BOINC client. I don't think it makes ay difference for credits earned with SETI.

Been there done that got the T shirt and put the cat out...
blowing $100k on cars girls and night clubs wasn't one of the most responsible things I have done, but maan it was fun! pity don't have anything to show for it now!
With hindsight, I would have bought a house and invested better in my career.. now I start again from the beginning.
A clever person learns from other peoples' mistakes!

Oh, I put a Core2 machine together for a few hundred $... check it out! I just started using the other core which was doing cpdn until a few days ago. RAC should go to about 1700. I might get another one soon, got so many bits lying around now.
