Looks like you have XP+, so try clicking on the window icon (top left corner). That should bring up the context menu which should have the editing selections.

If that doesn't work, try right clicking on the title bar.

Gawd, you must think I'm a lost cause!
The number of times I've used the command line window and never knew the C:\\ at the top was actually USEFUL!
I shall laugh loudly at myself later...

Now here's the info gleaned... I hope it helps!

LOL, if the folks at MS don't know how Windows works, don't feel bad that you don't know everything about it either. :-)

littlegreenmanfrommars:

Well, if that hadn't worked you could have tried starting it from the commandline like this:

"CPUID 10-02-A.exe" >output.txt

and then press enter twice - then the output would be readu for you in the text file called output.txt ;)

Hi Murfster, I was wondering what exactly those Xeons were, thanks for posting :o)

4 dualcore CPUs with HT for a grand total of 16, neat. The 8M L3 cache probably also helps a bit.

I've run a dual-socket Woodcrest 5160 Dell system for a couple of days on S@H, and by my projections it would have gotten around 2.6K/day or so. Too bad it's needed for other things most of the time ;o)

And to Jim:
Simon, Sorry to take the thread off topic but, I have been trying to get on the http://lunatics.at site from quite some time. I never give the return E-mail from the site. I will be happy to test some of the Apps you are providing. Please authorize the account by the same name "skywatch'.
Thanks, Jim

There's a new version of the CPUID program available.

Download URL

Please use this version only in future tests.

Also, please only post results if your CPU is diagnosed incorrectly or is missing in the list below!

Thanks for your help,
Simon.

Simon,

Just to make sure I read your post correctly, should we use the new tool for any other machines on this run, or did you mean you're planning to run a "phase 2" test later.

I'm asking because I have a remote P-III Katmai, which I'll be visiting in the next day or so and I want to make sure I use the right tool to collect the data.

Who should post:
* If you don't see your CPU on one of the posted lists
* If listed but previous utility mis-identified your CPU model (or core)

What to use
* Please allways use the latest utility (currently 10-03-A) to identify the CPU.

Who should test:
If you DO already see your CPU ID #, model, and core - feel free to try it, but don't post unless it identifies something incorrectly.

L2 Cache size errors: For certain Intel CPUs the L2 size was 2 * actual. Corrected in 10-03-A.

Thanks Peter Leman,

I call an operating system function to ask it maximum # of threads it is running
(copied that from boinc code).

I then divide that by cpuid # of cores and threads. So apparently under win98, that function returns a zero. Will add a check for that.

Please download this zip file and extract and run "CPUID 10-02-A.exe" by double-clicking it.[/pre]

Simon, if you want to achive any penetration of the CPUID 10-02-A.exe, you should make the archive downloadable without a need to register.

Peter

Oops,

you're right.

Should have posted it as a real download instead of a post attachments (different set of restrictions apply).

Well, here's a direct link to grab the package. Thanks for noticing :o)

Regards,
Simon.

Simon, is it better to "save" this file or "open" it. Windows always asks me this question and I never know which to choose. Thanks.
