Hi folks,

in an upcoming new version of KWSN SETI@Home optimized apps, we will include code that gathers more info about your specific CPU and its capabilities. It is not as elaborate as CPU-Z or the like, nor intended to be - but it provides very useful information for optimization.

To make this possible, Ben Herndon has produced a small standalone application that finds out what CPU you have, its speed, cache size, memory and cache speed etc. and prints it out on the screen.

Please download this zip file and extract and run "CPUID 10-02-A.exe" by double-clicking it.

It will display a 'command' window with information about your CPU, and then pause, asking you to press enter for memory speed.
Press enter once to perform some benchmarks.
We hope the information is completely accurate.
If it is not accurate or...
If the model of CPU you have is not currently listed on the table of tested CPUs
then please copy this window of information and attach it to a reply to this thread.
How to copy the screen depends on your version of windows.

  • Win XP- Look for the "C:\\" tiny icon in the upper left of the window.
  • click on this tiny icon to bring up a menu
  • choose the edit -> mark option (continue)
  • Win 2000 - Win SE
  • With the left mouse button - drag select the entire text area of the window
  • click the right mouse button or press a key
  • now this text is in your clipboard
  • next launch [start menu] -> programs -> Accessories -> Notepad (or use Windows Key + R and just type "notepad" and hit enter)
  • paste the text into the notepad window.
  • Save the file, giving it a descriptive name, such as "cpuid <my processor model type - including core type>.txt"
  • attach it to a post in this thread
  • if you don't want to register at lunatics.at to post, you can paste the contents of the file into a post here.

Please help us to make even quicker apps for you by submitting as many untested models as possible!

Thanks,
Simon.

My first thought was "doesn't matter, as you'd need to register to post results anyway" :D But, you may not know yet if you need to post them, so, you're right ;)

Simon, if you want to achive any penetration of the CPUID 10-02-A.exe, you should make the archive downloadable without a need to register.

Oops,

you're right.

Should have posted it as a real download instead of a post attachments (different set of restrictions apply).

Well, here's a direct link to grab the package. Thanks for noticing :o)

Regards,
Simon.

Hello all,

Many thanks for all the testing and reporting.

Here is a current list of what has been reported beyond the initial release.
Updated table - With recent CPUS added.

And remember - If the processor has already been reported please don't report a 2nd time.
- If the processor is incorrect report (unless already reported)
