To answer the last thing first, it's done per CPU, not even per computer.
So it is 100 results per CPU per 24 hours. This includes virtual CPUs (Hyperthreading).

A work around would be to attach to Seti without using BAM.
I just have the nagging feeling that you'll be detached then when you synchronize BAM, since your BAM says you are detached from Seti, or attached to Seti through BAM.

It looks like BAM does store the computer ID, so the same 302 results are still allocated to this machine even after detahing and reattaching.

Any ideas of a work around? There's four other boxes also crunching SETI so will they add to the quota or is that done on a per-machine basis, not per-user?

Cheers,

I think that BAM will remember the computer ID too and re-attach as the same computer. I've done it through BAM so will see if I receive any new work units in the next few minutes.

The detach button is greyed out ... is this due to me using BAM?

You did Select the Seti@Home project first?

Else it could well be that you have to detach through BAM.

That I have no clue about. I don't use BAM. Sorry.

OK - I'll detach! Will this delete the optimised apps, or just the ones in the standard install? Not really a problem either way, I suppose!

I'll get to that now.

Just copy the optimized app and the app_info.xml. Detach, reattach, and throw those back in after it downloads the other files. Should be ok to go from there. :-)

Will it sort itself out in a few days anyway? There's CPDN and Seti Beta running at the moment.

So? Detaching from Seti alone doesn't matter for CPDN or Seti Beta as they are two other projects.

300 results waiting to time out can take quite a long time. Do know that each result that times out will reduce your quota by 1 again. Each correctly return result increases your quota by twofold.

Yet it's so messy when you finally get back to a 16 results quota and 15 of the others time out. Back to square one. ;)

Now sorted - must've started the install before the .dll was unhooked properly.

Seems to be installed fine now.

Thanks for your help.

Hope it works for you. Glad you got working again. :-)

Hope that worked ...

Should I receive new units in a day or so, or is the black mark against the machine indelible?

Well, the easiest way around is to detach and reattach. Just don't forget to make a backup of Simon's fast cruncher and all the files it needs, then put them back after you get re-attached.

And for the moment don't merge the computers.

A new hostID should clear that slate.

Looks like the multiple requests from the machine has mislead SETI into thinking the units were received, as they all look like they came to me today.

In fact, I got the above errors and the machine has binned them all - they never showed on my "Tasks" list.

Hmmm ....

5.6.3 is the more stable one, I would use it. (I am using it... ;))

I'll update now - thanks for the info.

Another question, I saw that your P4 2.8GHz shows to have 302 results. Are all those really on your machine? For if not, you're looking at a long time of trouble with your quota.

Erm, no - that box is called Apollo and has precisely no units - that's the one that created the initial error messages. The others seem fine for now. Suspect that's why I'm not getting new work. All units have been crunched, so not sure why its saying there are results still to be returned.

Any ideas?

Erm ... what am I looking for? I was after 5.5.13 alpha release, but the link has higher versions, e.g. 5.6.3.

Should I use that one?

Thanks! I couldn't see them ... will try them out to see if this fixes the problem.

I've already amended app_info.xml, but am always up for new stuff.

Will let you know if it all goes horribly wrong through my ham-fisted incompetence. ;-)

Better than incontinence, I suppose ...
