Seti/boinc doesn't use ddhelp, thats part of directx. Are you playing any 3d games when you get the problem with seti? Could be the game is taking up the processor and not giving seti/boinc enough cycles to run.

I have installed CC 4.07 on top of 4.06 and have been running for a good part of the day, switching between SETI@HOME and LHC@HOME with no problems. Haven't uploaded any completed WU's yet but everything looks good so far!

I know that 4.06 fixed several memory leaks, but what are the changes in 4.07?

No, I wasn't playing when this happened. Checked seti lat at night: There where 2 hours computing left so I went to bed. In the morning I checked again and it had not switched to the next wu, but was held up by the not responding ddhelp - app.

Hi All,
I have a question and I apologize if it has been asked before but I could not find the post.

When Upgrading from 4.06 to 4.07, do you lose everything that is in your cache.
I do not want to upgrade yet if that is the case.

Also Last night was the first time I had a hang on Win XP with SP1.
It got stuck at 1.43%, I exited and restarted 2 times with no help.I had to restart the computer, and then the WU' started back. This one WU ended up taking 6.54 hours to complete when all others have taken 4.03 hours to complete.
During the night, it completed the Wu and went on to the next without a hitch.

Have a Great Day!!

Regards,

Rocky

Went from 06 to 07 with no problem, just exited 06 and ran the 07 installer. When 07 started it recognised a version change, ran the benchmarks then carried on where 06 left off.

Also running XP/SP1a - not yet had any problems, but the PC is not on 24/7 so probably not a true test ;-)

Hi, I'm running win me and just installed 4.07. Previous lock ups etc were cured and everything worked fine until I signed up to cp@h. Now after 2 to 3 hours it stops with a visual fortran run-time error ? Cp@h then starts from the beginning again. Occasionally the pc freezes completely requiring a reboot.
Is this a Boinc problem or cp@h problem ?

I've detached from cp@h for now.
Looks like I'll have to look at upgrading to XP.
Thanks again.

I assume that by now you have upgraded to 4.07.
I had a nightmare of a time with 4.06. It just would not run without
crashing the pc, so I stopped running Boinc until 4.07
came along. With Seti running on its own It runs as sweet as a nut.
Now I'm all out of wu's and twiddeling my thumbs.
Is there such a thing as Seti withdrawal symptons ????????

You sure you had problems with 4.06?
4.05 is what prompted this thread, 4.06 was the initial fix & appears to have worked for everyone else that tried it.
Still running 4.06 myself with no problems.

So does anyone know when the fix will be available to all users, not just Alpha testers?
