Hiya,

all people working on forum code modifications - please take care not to reset everyone's settings each week? So far, I've had to reset my view style on average once or twice a week, as well as re-edit my profile because it lost my avatar and other settings.

<edit>Actually, just found out something different - there is no way to "keep" the avatar you had set up when you change your forum settings - there are two radio boxes, one for "no avatar" one for "use uploaded avatar" with a file select box next to it - however, you have to either point that second one at your avatar on every update (and hence, re-upload it each time, generating unnecessary bandwidth waste) or it just gets reset to "none" as soon as you hit "update info". Not a good thing in my book.</edit>

Shouldn't be strictly necessary to do this - if you're coding features that supersede (not extend) old features, please make sure you code an initial import vector so old settings get "translated", if you could...

However, let me thank whoever coded "jump to first new post automatically" in the forum preferences...been looking for that here for a while now ;o)

Thanks,
Simon.

Yeah I'll second that motion.

I’m pretty sure that’s been there at least since I first configured my preferences, last December.

I must be blind then, because last time I looked, it wasn't in my prefs...

Anyway, still would be nice if new forum code didn't continually break old settings ;o)

Regards,
Simon.

It has been there for a very long time, but not quite certain how long.

I suppose approx. 1 3/4 years or even more.

Not to sound ungrateful for your corrections, but the original post topic was quite different than "has this feature been there" - in fact I thanked whoever coded it.

Could we get back to the real issue I posted about originally please?

Regards,
Simon.

All I can say is my forum preferences, avatar, etc. all have stayed throughout all the coding changes. I never lost a setting.

I don't really know what is going on. I have lost my settings once, and others have reported multiple losses.

You have the chance of losing something if you change something in your forum prefs. Even the filter listing doesn't sort in numerical order when you add someone.

This (avatars) is a known issue with the new forum code. A correction should be upcomming shortly (this week).

Not that there's a need for it right now, but I get the same as well. With the others over in the Café it seems to be clear by now that it's some server side error.
