Message 386196 - Posted: 2 Aug 2006, 17:52:39 UTC - in response to Message 386179.

Forgot my manners. I'm Chris, but decided to change it to cdr after a confusing round of "which Chris are you" postings.

And thanks.

*edit*

Sorry for the delayed post/response, but is this something new Beets? I've disabled images like Anne has pointed out, and it really makes a difference. I just don't know which image to choose so I can see this new graphic that Anne has for the chess board.

Could you post another pic Anne? Puulllleeeeaaaaaase? ;^)

Beethoven, I'm sorry I haven't answered your compliment earlier ... :((( I'm glad that you like the new chess board ! :)))

In answer to ... the person who asked for it, here is a problem. I'm not entirely sure but I think I haven't posted it yet.

White to move, no instructions :

Have fun ! :)

How's this?

1. Nd5xb4 ...Qc7 (White threatens Qf6-d8++)
2. Nb4-c6 ...anything, does't matter (if ...Nf8-d7, Qf6-e7; if ...Qc7xNc6, Qf6-d8; if ...Qe7, Rd1-d8+,...Qe7xRd8, Qf6xQd8++)
3. Rd1-d8 ...Qc7xRd8 {forced)
4. Qf6xQd8++

DOH! You mean it's that simple?

Well, in that case:

1. Qf6-e7+ ...Ra7xQe7 (forced)
2. Nd5-f6++

That shows why it's much harder to find a checkmate in a game than in a chess problem. I thought this was another mate in 4 or mate in 5 situation. And there it was, right in front of my eyes all the time! LOL

Anne,

Do they have to be with "no instructions"?

Just wondering...
