The Morning Chess Problem is called "Cramped Quarters". Nope. Sorry. If 1. Qd8-d7 then ...Bb8-c7 spoils the mate in two. And just so you know, if you don't use long algebraic (so n00bies can follow the action) and number your moves, then no Cupie. I'll say you're the first solver, but no Cupie. We need one standard format that everyone can understand...and after all this time, I'm not switching to yours. Sorry, but that's how I see it. |

The After Hours Special is called "Knights That Say Ni".Rf1 RxR (any other move will be a mate in 3) Rd1xRf1 Nd7 (or anything else). White then Nd5 e7 + Kh8, Nf7 ++ Unless you've figured out a "Fork" in the problem (in which case you've earned a Golden Fork, Re1-f1 is not the right first move. I don't understand what you mean by "(any other move will be a mate in 3)". Sorry, but I just don't see it. And if you would please number your moves, maybe in general I could understand you faster. Edit: by "Fork" I mean an alternate solution. ;) |

The After Hours Special is called "Knights That Say Ni".Rf1 RxR (any other move will be a mate in 3) Rd1xRf1 Nd7 (or anything else). White then Nd5 e7 + Kh8, Nf7 ++ Beethoven, I clearly stated the lines. White and black moves are clearly stated. Alternative lines are discussed in commentary. I don't know what the problem is. The After Hours Special is called "Knights That Say Ni".Rf1 RxR (any other move will be a mate in 3) Rd1xRf1 Nd7 (or anything else). White then Nd5 e7 + Kh8, Nf7 ++ Um, nope. Try again? I'm not even going to go through all that. Rant follows: If you can't clearly notate and show your white moves and your black replies, like everyone else does, why would I even bother? All you're doing is causing me extra work by having to do yours in my head, and setting a bad example for n00bies on how to notate. No! I'm not going do it anymore. :( |

Your fine print is working fine. For chess annotations read the notes again to the first post at the bottom of this thread. I don't understand what you're trying to say. There's a standard "notation" on how to record moves. We use the "extended algebraic" notation here. ;) I have to get some sleep. See you tomorrow and welcome to the Chess Cafe! |

To see a solution that someone (me, in this case) hit the 'reply to post' button because we use BBCode to type our answers in small print so as to not spoil the solution for others who still want to noodle it out on their own. That's what I've been trying to explain to you. ;) Small print uses the following tags: size=1 to /size to just use size= and a number from 1 to 4 to get Small print. Use a number like 23 to get very large print. That's what the [size=x] tags do. ;) Reply to this post and you'll see the word "to" in small print that's there now. |
