... and it could take an hour and ten minutes, or a little longer. I know we're all sitting here waiting (and clicking "UPDATE") but that may just make the server SLOWER while they're trying to update it. > guys.... the process STARTS at 10am. it takes an hour according to earlier > news posts :P |

If you know that, Ned, then I'm not talking to you. Stop trying to create conflict where there isn't any. The point is people on this board are freaking out because it's past 10, despite the fact that the transfer only STARTS at 10. |

"Bated" IS the proper word to use. How can you take the words of a brain dead moron like Ozzie as proper. He probably doesn't even know the word "bated". Definition: bate intr.v bated, bating, bates. 1. To lessen the force of; hold back: with bated breath. 2. To take away; subtract .... I used the proper word for what I was trying to convey. I guess I learned something too. I would have used "Baited". As Homer Simpson would have said "DOH" lol |

Matt, As you correctly point out, there is a difference between "10:00" and "starts at 10:00" -- and there is a difference between "an hour" and "about an hour." It's 11:08 now, if it takes another half hour, that's fine. ... and I'm agreeing with you. Life is too short to get so incredibly upset about this. There is no reason for it. Everyone will start getting their precious points about the same time. > If you know that, Ned, then I'm not talking to you. But, I do not consider this an "argument", I consider it a lessen in proper word usage. English was my best subject, when I was in school back in the dark ages. That's why I use my Webster to make sure I use the proper words with the proper definition for the expression of my thoughts. L8R.... --- <p>Rick A. - BOINCing right along now.... "Usage Note: The word baited is sometimes incorrectly substituted for the etymologically correct but unfamiliar word bated (“abated; suspendedâ€) in the expression bated breath." Now we can drop it. |

I just downloaded and installed 4.05 and lost all of my Predictor WUs and completed work and the Seti server is not responding! I will wait until tomorrow to install 4.05 on my other three computers. Jammy Skepticism Is A Virtue |

Before changing major version you have to upload and report all units. In case of SETI@home it is down few days and it is not chance to report or upload anything from 3.x client. > I just downloaded and installed 4.05 and lost all of my Predictor WUs and > completed work and the Seti server is not responding! > > I will wait until tomorrow to install 4.05 on my other three computers. > > Jammy S@h Berkeley's Staff Friends Club © member |

I meant that I lost all of my cache of Predictir WUs, and Predictor is not downloading any new WUs and it seems that Seti isn';t sending any either, so now this box has nothing to work on so I am just retruning to another DC project I am active in. It should have been posted as a warning or something that installing the newest client would delete all other caches and that there were no Seti Wus available for download yet!
