2.8 Gig Celeron, with 1 Gig DDRAM, Win XP Pro SP2. Running BOINC 5.2.13 with Simon's optimised app DCF is 0.437652 By the way, although this thread isn't about cred races, my RAC dropped to 85 after enhanced began, from a high of 132 before enhanced. Since installing the optimised app, my RAC is now over 200 and continuing upwards. Unlike many, I'm not trying to gain bragging rights, but the thought that I'm now crunching more science with my humble home PC does give me that warm fuzzy feeling :)

Now I want a DCF graph in the statistics tab of boinc, so I can keep an eye on it... ;) |

DCF figures seem to ‘jitter’ a bit, so I won’t report many decimal places, but on my three Macs (G4s at 400 or 733 MHz) running the Alex Kan / Team MacNN app ( ;p ) they tend to centre around 0.30 or a little less. DCF will jitter (possibly a great deal) as the exact computing time is unknown before the result is complete. BOINC WIKI |

My RAC, which I am now beggining to disregard, bounces because of pending credit. In the last 2 weeks the daily amount of BOINC credit I have received has varied from 150 to over a 1200. But yes if you get a run of the good or bad units for your particular setup the RAC will swing considerably. I find having no cache of units for a project and relying on crunching for 4 projects to ensure cpu's are busy stops most batch downloads of similar units. Andy |

Would that explain why my RAC bounces so much? Official Abuser of Boinc Buttons... And no good credit hound!

Just looked at 1st page of results for that computer, the times to crunch are similar to my pent M. Except for the two units that took over 10k sec, these seem to be a lot slower, similar angle_range units on my computer are done in about 8k sec. Over on Beta there have been several discussions about the different performance of AMD/Intel cpu's at various AR's this might be just one of those differences. My Pent M seems to be worse than predicted at VLAR's but a lot better at VHAR's. These differences will cause the DCF to vary, and unfortunately the go up quickly and down slowly, but it has to be so. Andy |

Lower is better.[/quote] Hm...It is now .64 seems to be getting higher. My RAC is still going up also. Expected credit is almost always right. Official Abuser of Boinc Buttons... And no good credit hound!

Pentium D 920 clocked at 3.22 GHz, 1 Gig ddr2 800, Asus P5ld2-vm Pam, The DCF is not affected by sharing with other projects, you have separate DCF's for each project. My pent M is still dropping, now at 0.39nn and I don't think has reached min yet as predicted times to crunch are still longer than actual crunch times. Andy |

Pentium D 920 clocked at 3.22 GHz, 1 Gig ddr2 800, Asus P5ld2-vm Using KWSN optimized Linux app DCF is 0.164117 at the moment. Pentium M 2.0 GHz laptop, 512 Mb, Using KWSN Windows app DCF is 0.710428 I've been doing some other projects more with the Pentium M than with the Pentium D, does sharing with other projects affect DCF? |

using chickens opt client on both Your AMD is running at 2.2GHz p/core and the Intel at 3Ghz p/(virtual)core, so not that strange, the rest depends on L1, L2, mem, hd speed etc.. ;-)

My Dell laptop with a 1.4 GHz Banias running WinXP pro currently shows my lowest SETI DCF at 0.408788. However, I only recently resumed running SETI, and more recently adopted Simon's science ap, with a 10% resource share on most hosts, so suspect the DCF has not reached equilibrium at current conditions. Running Akosf's S4 Einstein Science ap, my Einstein DCF's got below 0.2 on most of my machines. I think I saw as low about 0.15 for real. With S5, those days are long gone, and my Einstein DCF's range from about .45 to about .7 at the moment. Those may not be at equilibrium either. |

using chickens opt client on both Benchmarks are run by BOINC not application. So make sure min other programs are running and do them manually. If they are still down something has changed on your 'puter and needs investigating/fixing. Andy |

using chickens opt client on both amd 4200 x2, 0.518 intel 3GHz HT, 0.333 interesting that the amd is alot higher...also, the benchs for the amd are alot lower on chicken app, than previously.. Cheers. |
