Message 368928 - Posted: 16 Jul 2006, 2:16:04 UTC - in response to Message 368439.

My apologies for the long line in the other topic. I don't post enough here to realise that the "code" formatting would cause this problem (and now it's too late to edit). I was just looking for a way to "quote" the output of a program, and the "code" formatting seemed close enough. Anyone with enough priviliges to edit it (moderators only, probably): feel free to wrap some lines there. I'll try to be more careful in the future...

Edit: I just tried to report it as an offending post (asking for some line breaks) by clicking the red cross below my wide post. Unfortunately I got an "unable to handle request" error when trying to send the report, further stating that "User with id FORUM_MODERATION_EMAIL_USER_ID created but nothing returned from DB layer". So there seems to be one more thing not as it should be with the forum's software configuration...

The moderators cannot change any posts. They can only hide posts (and entire threads if needed).

Every once-in-awhile I do see the words of certain threads extend beyond the right side of the screen. Fortunately the occurrence is rare and the problem is resolved soon.

Yah.....noticed this myself, almost posted asking for a moderator to delete the offending post..but I suppose that is not really the answer to the problem. Can't the forum format take care of this?

The new CPU Benchmarking one.
There don't appear to be any wide graphics.

That one has been forced wide by the pre-formatted text in this post.

Interestingly, there's a "nowrap" specified on there...

Nothing wrong with your settings or your browser. The thread is being displayed as specified by the forum contents.

There are double wide ones though. Bt not even a third of the text width.
I also just had that dreaded error where the thread won't open as well.
Only way to read the thred is to reply to it.
Oh well.
It's not the end of the world

Has something changed with the forum that I'm
now having to scroll half way to an ETI to read stuff.
or ( As is usually the case )
Did I mess up a setting or something ?

Likely no problem from your side!

There's a very old problem that if someone posts a wiiiiiiide image in their post or in their sig, then that forces the minimum display width to be big enough for their over-wide graphic. Hence, the text then gets pulled out wide to fill up to that extra wide width...

As a check, which thread has gone wide on you?

(Note to Boinc project stats junkies: DO NOT PUT ALL YOUR STATS GRAPHICS SIDE-BY-SIDE-BY-SIDE-BY-SIDE...! Pretty please? :-( )

Regards,
Martin
