No, you cannot change anything to select particular workunits.

The servers will send you the next unit in the queue, with an appropriate deadline for the estimated time to run.

As for saving the work done, unless you have changed the 'write to disk at most every' setting (on Your Account page) - the save interval should be something like 15 minutes.

There are a few duff units about though. If you have one that is ringing-up 1000s of seconds with only a couple of % progress, there could be no progress to save. If so, aborting the WU is appropriate.

The real solution is to fix why your computer is crashing.

Looks like you have successfully turned in a few wu's on the machine in question, though you did have 3 error out recently. I'd keep an eye on it now. I don't believe there is any way to pick and choose what is sent to you.

How do we get smaller work units that are around 1,000 to 6,000 CPU time? Is there some setting we can change that essentially do that?

My computer has kept on crashing within a few hours and I don't think the work done is being saved... :(
