The SETI home page (http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/) states that an upgrade to 4.x client is required yet when I go to the software page to upgrade software (http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.php) the version downloaded is 3.2. How does one get the 4.x client upgrade for WIN systems? |

Hopefully they will soon finish the hardware fix and version 4 upgrade they expected to complete over 7 hours ago. They obviously are having some problems. They would be expected to put the version 4 client up as soon as possible after they finish the upgrade at their end. Until then, you wouldn't be able to do anything with the version 4 client anyway. |

You can download the Boinc client here http://www.boinc.dk/index.php?page=download_boinc I found this site here http://boinc.berkeley.edu/links.php so it would seem to be legit. But I have still been unable to connect to the project, they must really have some problems hope this helps |

You must upgrade to 4.x client when and only when it is on the SetiBoinc Download page: http://setiweb.ssl.berkeley.edu/download.php No other official binary exist. The only official Boinc site is Berkeley develop site, where you can download the source code and compile yourself (but on Windows only for now require to buy MSVC): http://boinc.berkeley.edu/ But for binary you need to wait that every project compile and test in conjunction with his crunch part and put on his download page. |

I got tired of trying to explain to people that they should never download project software from other than the project site itself. Some folks can't learn. Let 'em get their share of virii/trojans/etc. |

> SO what I am trying to say is you own me I'll assume that's probably a typo? :) > and apology or at a hey you old fart you may have been right, I have always pointed to the SETI/BOINC Project's official download page. I don't see any need for an apology, nor will I offer any. > but I really do not care because I think of these boards as my entertainment > and I thank you for entertaining me You're welcome. > ......I guess my picture fooled you, ... I have never seen your "picture". I've never followed your profile link, if that's what you're talking about. Mike |

> > > SO what I am trying to say is you owe me > > > > I'll assume that's probably a typo? :) > > what typo ;0) Ah, I see you've corrected the original post. :) Well, the typo will live on in the quote in my earlier message. :) (You might try limiting your quotes a bit; remove the lines not relevant to the current response. As I just did here.) |
