well well well...

I could use a JD and coke :)

Buckinham, it would be joyous to see if you quote what it is you and your group of Patriot Guard Riders do.....alot of people, I believe, read about it but don't exactly know what the 'opposition' church group is....---I forget the name of that 'church' although they've been speaking out on CNN lately

"I commend the Patriot Guard Riders, a group of dedicated individuals who upon seeing an injustice, chose to rise up and not permit anyone to dance on sacred ground. At funerals around the country, they have ridden in on their motorcycles, with American flags waving, signaling to those present that they are there to protect the families as they mourn their loss."
- Chairman of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs Steve Buyer (IN)

The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security.

Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives.

1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.

2. Shield the mourning family and friends from interruptions created by any protestor or group of protestors.

HOORAH!!! Especially on a day like Flag Day today, I'm positively chuffed that you and your mates are doing that continuing venture.

Congratz!!!

Edit: I wanted to ask you...Do the Patriot Riders wear some recognizable colors or insignia so that you can be recognized by all?

Good morning everyone :)

I am in my office, having my morning coffee...clearing the cobwebs and thought I would check in and say;

WAAAAZAUP?

YES! Coffee! Good idea. Let me put a pot on for when Fuzzy arrives. Coffee anyone?

Ja ja ja, nu kommer jeg, I ser jeg iler! Sorry, I have been busy elsewhere.

I see that Beethoven already has served the coffee, but here's a fresh pot

So, a cup anyone?

Or maybe tea instead?

Heyas Fuzzy!

Welcome to Beethoven's!

Mmmmm! That cup ofcoffee looks just delicious to me. Thanks a lot!

I'll tell you straight out, I'm mighty glad Matt Lebofsky came back and took charge. It's a breath of fresh air. Ahhhhhhhhh!

I'm also pleasantly surprised that I understand "Ja ja ja, nu kommer jeg, I ser jeg iler!" without looking it up, even though I can't speak a word of Danish. lol

Hey! I'm user of the day over at Chess960...

of course there aren't many members there so it's an easy accomplishment...

:-)

UOTD at a Chess site? I can't see how that happened. It takes you over 12 hours to post a single move! <hint, hint>

Really?

Congrats in that case!

LOL...send me the updated board pic like I asked so I can move.....that would help a little..HINT HINT.

I think I've been pretty clear here...

Yes, you have. Thanks for weighing in on the question.

Is anyone on the other side of this issue?

Stupid idea....absolutely pointless...

It shouldn't be the business of government to effectively proscribe freedom of speech...if you want to to PRIVATELY sing the anthem in Esperanto or Swahili then exercise that right.

Now, printing of government documents and so on is a whole other topic.

Yes, we're just talking about singing the National Anthem, right now. But about what you say, "if you want to to PRIVATELY sing the anthem in Esperanto or Swahili then exercise that right."

Edit: What about a baseball game in San Antonio, Texas, where some large majority (90%?) of people are Latino Americans? Do you have a problem with the anthem being sung in Spanish at the start of the games?

It does seem to an outsider like me (I'm Canadian) that, as a Senate Bill, this is a touch trivial considering all the important issues the Senate faces.

But then again, I can't say I understand the very complex American system of government. I don't mean the seperation of powers and such, but the whole business of lobbying, influence, charitable events and government contracts. Someone should publish a political Who's Who so we can know who the real players are, n'est-ce pas?

No, I would not have a LEGAL issue with the anthem being sung in Spanish. Although the anti-Capitalist government has a protectionist law on the books that protects Baseball. It is another example of how only a government can create a true monopoly.

Now, setting that aside, those events are, or should be, PRIVATE. And whatever you choose to sing, speak, suck, slurp, inject, imbibe, glare at, read, write, pick at, walk, talk, should be PRIVATE and up to you....
I think I've been pretty clear here...

Um, crosspost. You missed my question to you. See the Edit: just below. :-)

I'll wait for it then elsewise I'll have to monkey around with the board to reengender it myself....

And everyone knows that it's dangerous if I begin 'engendering things'...lol

Understood....

Here's the reality of the situation (I have a very bad habit of dealing with reality)

Congressmen and Senators often propose nonsensical crap (flag burning amendments to the constituion for example) in an effort to bolster voting support and to garner political pull. Notice that in a truly free society none of this would even be remotely considered, much less possible....

ps-----send me a chess pic, Beethoven. I lack the positions.

Buenos dias, amigos. Como estan?

Buenos dias, David. Arriva con dios.

And welcome to Beethoven's!

I understand that Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), has a bill in the works to require that English (and not also Spanish) be the only allowable language to sing the national anthem.

I was wondering what people thought of this bill?
