I haven't deleted a post in ages. Any mushroom... err volunteer who wants their post deleted? See that raffle barrel over there? Pick a number and yell out. :-)

LOL "mushroom" You may have meant "volunteer", but accidently used "mushroom" to describe them, however, I use the term "mushroom" to describe some of the women I work with who has problems I won't go into details. ROFL! I just yell at them to go see a doctor. LOL (mushroom is a?? rofl)

However, if we all just get along and just discuss relevant technical data and not talk rudely to each other, there should be little or no problems. If info is useless or unliked by someone, they should ignore it and move on.

Give me a B... B
Because give me an O... O
Oh, give me an I... I
I say, give me an N... N
And give me a C, but see what that spells? Si, Boinc!!!
(Si ~ "yes" in spanish, but if it's spelled wrong, sorry, I forgot how to spell it after being made to drop out of 1st year of spanish class.)

(I really was a cheerleader back in high school... sorry... But I was the technical/creative one to usually make up the cheering scripts/routines. And it's funny that programmers use those same words (scripts + routines). lol)

Now it's horse beating? You were one of the biggest loudmouths about the evils of the setup a week or two ago.

Kindly explain your statement...let us hear some cheerleader wisdom to goosestep by (don't forget to bring the band with you).

So how's the strike?

I stopped doing any meanful crunching for Seti three weeks before the strike (previous RAC peaked at 10,998). If you check my posts I never said I supported the strike, but I did agree with many of the issues the strikers had with Berkeley. My nine computers are now crunching for Rosetta which is also a very worthwhile project. The difference is that the project headman and devs at Rosetta are in constant communication with the people who are kind enough to volunteer their hosts and electricity consumption. Over there you are treated like a sunflower, here you're a mushroom.

I've paid my taxes for this project.

Haha - you want accountability? This is a volunteer project. 99.9% of Seti users are happy. Remember, most Seti crunchers don't post on the board.

I am still waiting for the thought processes that preceded the new board's creation. Why was it felt necessary? I have asked this from the start and not received a response, other than to ask other mods who also don't respond.

Frankly, it seemed like a great idea.

There are over 40,000 teams, most of which people don't know anything about. When some of the team recruitment threads starting popping up in NC and the Cafe and various members started to complain about them I figured something had to be done.

The solution seemed simple, create a forum that could be used for team recruitment efforts and team challenges. Various team members could express their enthusiasm about their teams without upsetting the purists who only wanted the traditional stuff discussed.

Teams are an important part of the DC experience, it should be easy for new members to check out what is out there, and like wise existing team members who want to discuss the merits of their team verses another team should be made to feel like an outcast simply because there wasn’t a clear place for those kinds of things.

Rom, since I was the creator of the original Team Recruitment thread on the Seti Cafe board, I think your response concerns me as well.

Yes, teams are an important part of the DC community, and the friendly bantering between the teams are only for fun. In the thread I originally created and later spawned, there was a place where people could introduce their teams and advertize for members and even compete with the other teams, and I wasn't aware of that anybody had complained about that.

I closed it when I left my former team, as I wouldn't advertize for a team I wasn't a member of anymore as I did in the first post of them, and Raven took over the idea, which I was happy for.

The way, it was closed and removed without any notice at all, is the problem and Captain Avatar even had the nerve to insult Raven with his team on the new Team board by calling it "rogue".

I think this could have been done with a lot more grace than was showed, either by you or by any of the mods in charge, and Raven's Team Recruitment thread should have been taken on that board in it's full length, so the friendly bantering that took place in it, could have continued. Somebody should have taken the time and effort to do that, partly as a courtesy to Raven, and partly as that thread is needed as it was not only for one team, but for all.

Now the Team board is only a board with a lot of threads which are being bumped now and then by the different teammembers, and those teams, where the members are not around to bump their threads, will sink to page 2 - 3 - 4 ...

And, this is why I no longer have a green star, the lack of accountability. Now you know.

Showing or not showing your green star is your choice Raven.

If you dont show it then nobody cares and if you do show it,

It means you donated money to the project.

It dosnt mean that you are owed an accountability from the Admins.

If you bought stock in a company yes you are entitled to accountability.

But to "donate" to a university project you are not intitaled to it. Unless you give them a million bucks and they name a building after you.

Again the above is my personal opinion and in no way represents the views of the administration. Nor am I employed by Berkeley.

Because of this minor clerical nothing??? If the mods and the team had your thin skin, they would have closed most of the forum by now.

Other projects had this special part before, some even sorted by different languages, so it was nothing really new, only late adopted here. The team aspect of crunching was elevated from the swamps of the Cafe to a special part of the forum, that's fine imho.

It has imho nothing to do with "accountability", but with personal taste. And as this is nothing to argue about, why do it?

Why is a specific item from the "rules" as a reason for moderation such an issue with you?

You're a mod, and it seems to me, you should be doing the mod based on a "rule" and not based on what you feel about a specific poster, or am I wrong?

If you think it's bad just trying to get a reason for having a post moderated, try getting one for having an entire thread arbitrarily declared "redundant".

I'm STILL waiting for that explanation.

Raven with all due respect please give this up, It has been explained and explained and apologies offered but yet you still complain about it.

The reason your thread was "redundant" was because a whole new board was created
for team recrutment. The only problem was you werent told in advance. Of which apologies were given several times...do you need anything more than that?

I am still waiting for the thought processes that preceded the new board's creation. Why was it felt necessary? I have asked this from the start and not received a response, other than to ask other mods who also don't respond.

well since I am not Rom I cant help you with his thought process. you just need to move forward Raven. It happend.
