Dude, why even waste your time on a third world piece of crap?I responded for all those who agree with her, and who think she is such a font of reason and knowlege. And even though I know I will not change their minds (or hers), I want them to know there is another side to her psuedo-rhetoric. So Brainsmashr is your friend now? Dear Enigma:By Enigma:By me:By Enigma:By Es99: You continually insult my country: In this post you said, “Arguably the worst thing that can happen to the world is to have more countries like America or Iraq. Certainly turning Iraq/Afganistan etc into American clones is a recipe for disaster.†Completely ignoring the fact that the brutal dictatorship in Iraq and the murderous theocracy in Afghanistan are becoming democracies. In this post you said, “But the US just loves war so much, it can't get enough.†Completely ignoring the fact that Saddam started hostilities when he invaded Kuwait, and that Al Qaeda killed more than 2,000 people on 9/11. You continually lie, misquote and feign personal attacks when you have no argument: In this post you said, “You love citing documents that you have not actually read and understood.â€, and “So now some of you fall back to arguments such as “the war never ended†so it was perfectly legal to invade…..with again no support documents or argument just biased opinions.†When it was you who clearly did not understand what you read; and there were plenty of links to “support†documents. In this post you said “So now some of you fall back to arguments such as “the war never ended†so it was perfectly legal to invade…..with again no support documents or argument just biased opinions.â€, when you have been referred to the documents over and over again by me, Octagon, Misfit and others. Indeed, it seems that you did not read them, because if you did, you never said one word about why they don’t support the position that the war is perfectly legal. In this post you said “No you just start attacking the person who is making the argument and continue to spout conjecture, rather than building an argument for further discussion. This line of argument is not logical and is a sure sign that you don't know what you are talking about.â€, which was neither an attack on you nor conjecture, as evidence had repeatedly been given to you. Then you insult me, saying my argument is “not logical†and that I “ don’t know what I am talking about.†So, what are you saying here? Am I 1) attacking you; 2) spouting conjecture; or 3) making an argument that is not logical? It can’t be all three. And in that same post you cite to an opinion of Kofi Annan that is not backed up by any “support documents or argument just biased opinionsâ€; this is exactly what you have accused me of doing, so you could claim that my argument was without merit. So, by your logic, the site you linked to has no merit. In this post you said, “Your response. Personal attack. [sincere mode=on] I am truly sorry as i confused you as someone that is capable of mature, rational, intelligent debate. My mistake, it won't happen again.†So, you complain about what you perceive as a “personal attack†then do the same? Perhaps you are not so morally opposed to personal attacks when they are made by you. In this post you completely misstated my point. I even tried to be gracious about my post, and you turned that against me in a later post. In this post you misquoted me saying, “‘Disassembled and export their 'WMD'’. You have to be joking?? Lets apply occams razor here.†Which I never said. I pointed out to you that I never said that, but you never apologized for misquoting me. Then, in that post, you accused me of making a “baseless personally directed accusation[s]â€, simply because I labeled you what you are: an apologist (for terrorists) and a self-righteous twit (look it up). In this post, when I said you shouldn’t “throw up your hands†that means (to any English speaker who is not ignorant) “to give upâ€, but your response was, “No body is throwing anything anywhere; I think you need to calm down….LOL…â€, as if I was raving at you. No rational reading of my post would lead anyone to believe I needed to calm down. (Even this post is meant to be educational, and to point out your errors, but I am not ranting. Oh, maybe a little raving at the end). When I call you on your lies, you ignore me: In this post I said “A pattern is emerging here. Enigma will claim anything, whether it happened or not (whether it was said or not) and try to make points. Well, that is an unfair way to argue. When I claimed that Beethoven said something and he had actually said just the opposite, I admitted my mistake and apologized. Let's just see what happens now.â€; in this post I said, “Then you completely bypass my comments in your previous post that I never said the things you claim I did. Show me where I said those things! You can't make up a statement out of thin air, say I said it and then claim I was wrong. I know all about using a straw-man argument, and it is invalid.â€; and in this post I said, “Dear, dear Enigma, it is perfectly clear that you don't wish to discuss this topic like an adult. And I say this, sweetie, because you have not heard a word I said, and you claim I said things that I did not say.†You did not respond to the merits of my arguments nor to my requests that you admit your errors. These examples are from only the last 2-3 weeks. I have (mostly) avoided examples that show you do the same with other posters, and where you simply avoid answering direct questions that have been put to you. You asked me to look in a mirror, well, when I look in a mirror, I see an honest man, or at least one who tries to be. When I look at you I am horrified by your ugliness, perhaps not physical ugliness, but a twisted, shriveled mind; a black heart; and a distorted sense of morality that make me shudder and recoil. I certainly hope you do not look in a mirror. |

Only caught part of this on Rush this morning, and I can't find any news articles online right now, and my lunch-break is almost over..... However, I heard the "Stay the Course" resolution passed both the Senate and the House with flying colors. Did I misunderstand the fraction of the story I heard, or did we just prove yet again that regardless of how much propaganda put forth by the left, that they and their opinions are still a minority in this country?

Pete Wilson revisits immigration DAVID S. BRODER THE WASHINGTON POST June 15, 2006 Out of the past and into the current controversy dividing the Republican Party came former California Gov. Pete Wilson, charging into Washington this week to argue that he had been right all along in trying to slam the door on illegal immigration. Far from dooming Republicans to a series of defeats in the most populous state, Wilson argued, his championing in 1994 of Proposition 187, denying health care and educational services to illegal immigrants and their children, anticipated the kind of hard-line policy many Republicans have endorsed this year. The old Marine, as unyielding now at 72 as he was during his eight years as governor, may not be the spokesman the embattled House Republicans would choose for their fight with the White House and the Senate over the immigration reform bill now headed for a conference committee. Wilson is blamed by many Republicans, including those around President Bush, for so alienating the growing Hispanic vote in California that the state's hoard of electoral votes have moved permanently into the Democratic column. But Wilson, a former senator, rejected that charge at a Hudson Institute talk in Washington. And, despite being a Bush appointee (to the Defense Policy Board, a Pentagon advisory panel), he called on his former colleagues to resist White House pressure on the House and Senate to pass a compromise bill that preserves elements of the president's more generous approach and includes a path to citizenship for the millions of illegal immigrants already here. He said the only reason the Senate voted for a more generous bill in the first place was that many senators had been “intimidated.†Wilson said the House Republicans are right in insisting that the U.S.-Mexico border be closed before any thought is given to a guest-worker program or anything resembling amnesty. That was also the message the winner of last week's House special election in the San Diego area, Republican Brian Bilbray, said voters were sending when they chose him. Build a wall the entire 2,000-mile length of the border, and do it first, Wilson said, or else “you'll have 20 million, 35 million, 50 million†illegals in the country. Wilson, a former mayor of San Diego, offered a revisionist history of California politics in defending his position. The 1994 campaign ad for which he became famous – a nighttime shot of shadowy figures sneaking across the border, while the announcer intoned, “They keep coming,†was falsely depicted in the press, he said, as an anti-immigrant message. It was aimed strictly at illegals, Wilson said, and in defense of California taxpayers. Did it cost Republicans California? Many have said so, noting that Democrats have won every presidential race, every Senate contest and every regular election for governor since Proposition 187 passed. Arnold Schwarzenegger's victory in the 2003 recall election broke that spell, Wilson said, and the blame for the earlier defeats can be assigned to the men who were “nice guys but not good candidates.†As for the presidential races, he said Bob Dole in 1996 and George W. Bush in his two campaigns really didn't try hard enough for California. That's his story, and he's sticking to it. But Sen. Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, one of the principal sponsors of the Senate bill, isn't buying any of it. “He really misreads this,†Hagel told me. “The intimidation was all coming from the other side,†in the form of e-mails and phone calls denouncing the 23 Republicans who, like Hagel, voted for the Senate bill. Hagel said the 2000-mile fence “is just not practical†and the “20 million, 35 million, 50 million†illegals flooding in are numbers Wilson pulled out of the air. And Wilson's interpretation of California political history is equally unpersuasive. “California has become a wasteland for Republicans,†Hagel said, “with not one elected official except the governor, who got there by accident. And you can't blame that all on candidates. Parties get a reputation from the policies they support.†Hagel made one other point: Those, like Wilson, who want only a border-closing bill offer no policy for dealing with the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants living in our country or their 3 million legal children. “Is the party of Abraham Lincoln going to allow a permanent second-class of people waiting to be citizens?†The next few months of House-Senate negotiation will determine whether Pete Wilson and Brian Bilbray or Chuck Hagel and George Bush speak for the Republican Party. me@rescam.org |

edit---deleted ads.... CBS Dan Rather or Create Your Own Manage Alerts | What Is This? NEW YORK (AP) -- Dan Rather, who has been working at "60 Minutes" since leaving as "CBS Evening News" anchor last year, apparently is in his final days at CBS News. CBS executives and Rather's representatives appear close to a deal that will end Rather's association with CBS News after more than 40 years, according to an executive knowledgeable about the situation who spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity on Thursday. Rather, 74, told The Philadelphia Inquirer that he has had no conversations about continuing at "60 Minutes" beyond the television season that ended last month. Another story published Thursday in The Washington Post quotes CBS executives who declined to be identified that network bosses have concluded there is no future role at CBS for Rather. CBS News President Sean McManus would not comment on the reports Thursday, a spokeswoman said. Rather did not immediately return a call to his office. Rather stepped down in March 2005 after 24 years as CBS' anchorman. He took much of the public blame for a discredited 2004 story that questioned President Bush's military service, an episode that clouded his final months on the job. CBS News seems eager to usher in a new generation at "60 Minutes," where Katie Couric will start in the fall as a correspondent and CNN's Anderson Cooper will begin contributing stories. Other new correspondents like Lara Logan and Scott Pelley are also competing for airtime there. Meanwhile, veteran "60 Minutes" correspondent Ed Bradley has signed a contract to continue with the broadcast, according to industry executives who spoke on condition of anonymity. There had been public reports of hard-nosed negotiations between CBS News and Bradley, who inherited Mike Wallace's spot as the first correspondent to identify himself following the ticking stopwatch at each show's opening. Bradley did not immediately return a call for comment. Rather told the Inquirer that he has had no conversation with McManus -- other than twice saying hello when they saw each other at functions -- since McManus took over in October. "We've had no conversations about carrying on at '60 Minutes,' " Rather said. "My position is, I want to work. Maybe it's my hubris, but I still think there are things I can contribute, and I want an opportunity to do that." He told the newspaper that while he would like to stay at CBS News, "the question is whether they have anything for me to do that I think is meaningful." He contributed eight stories to "60 Minutes" last season, including an examination of North Korea's secretiveness and former President Clinton's AIDS-fighting efforts. His last report, a profile of the Whole Foods market, ran on June 4. "60 Minutes" is in repeats now for the summer. CBS News is owned by CBS Corp. Copyright 2006 The Associated Press. I thought that was the way Matt wanted it...a free for all as long as it looked no worse than American network television, or should I refer to him as Captain Chaos. I'm sorry that I'm a little confused, but I thought that California style political correctness was back in vogue, as long as no one posted 4 letter words or porno pictures of Arnold (political topic awareness). Account frozen... |
