You're wrong in this one case. Fuzzy has alienated over 20 people who at one time considered her their friend. Each and everyone has had to pull her knife out of their backs. If I could talk to her directly face to face it would be much worse and far harsher. She is very good at manipulating people and now seeks refuge and support over here...her welcome in the Cafe has been worn out long ago. NC can have her, but beware of what you wish for, you may suceed.

Compare her RAC and credits to her number of posts vs. the length on time in the project...they tell a story.

Unfortunately this shows one of many human weaknesses.

We have a tendency to put into writing words that we would NEVER speak in face to face conversation with another individual. This underscores the need to think very carefully before engaging the keyboard.

Spoken words and the entire conversations are in our memory. Right or wrong the conversation is allowed to go on to it's conclusion. Once a word is spoken it is done. You cannot take it back. Even after an apology is issued it is still there in your memory.

Written words should be the same. Once written they should not "dissappear". The conversation should be allowed to it's conclusion otherwise many are left wondering about the outcome. What was decided and why? It is to the benefit of all to see, read and learn from these discussions.

Certainly some will be proven wrong and need to change their position on a topic. Same is true in verbal conversations. Nothing wrong with that. We all learn from these exchanges whether you participate in the conversation or not. For the conversation to "dissappear" is not a natural ending for a conversation.

Maybe we should move to other forums :(

No, I'm happy here, we just need to get through to those responsible for all this.

So Hans, it's not only a question about circus and flamewar attractions in the Cafe, it's about a couple of moderators, who apparently can't behave as professional as they should.

Sorry Fuzzy, just trying to calm the waves...

Didn't do much good, anyway :-(

Regards Hans

I'm glad to see there is something to pick up the slack since the Enhanced credit issue has quieted somewhat... ;-)

For someone demanding apologies (which you have gotten), wanting to get that post deleted (which you have gotten), you have a strange way of saying thanks, Fuzzy.

Oh, so now I should kiss your feet for apologizing that you insulted me in the first place?

And I can only imagine how much Rom must have twisted your arm to post that apology. But posting the original statement in the first place, even you thought it was soooo funny, showed your bad taste and your bad judgement.

And yes, I still have you filtered in my gmail and blacklisted in my MailWasher from last year.

<donning Nomex® coveralls>

I won’t question the judgement of the moderators in any particular case (collectively: I have no idea which of them does what when, so no basis to point fingers, even should I be so inclined), but I do wish it were more ‘transparent’. Would it be possible to replace offending posts with a “removed by moderator” message, instead of deleting them altogether? Better still, including a brief explanation—even just the rule number that’s been violated (like an error code)?

It’s particularly disconcerting when entire threads disappear without a trace. The recent one started by mmciastro (I hope I don’t need to identify it more explicitly) is an example: having browsed the forum only shortly after the prosecution had made its case, so to speak, and before the defence had been heard from, were I inclined to jump to conclusions I'd make an unfair opinion—or even presume there’d been a coverup of some kind.

Anyway, I submit that a little explanation of the reasons for suppressing messages would go a long way toward alleviating participants’ concerns that their posts may be subject to arbitrary or capricious censorship.

Another forum error... looks like a slash is being inserted before a quotation mark. This problem was previously confined to the profile text but looks like it's migrated into the forums.

I've already called Ageless to the carpet for that and had him make a public apology.

I do not think anything more than that was needed.

Yes, there are some very questionable moderations going on at the moment, not only from Ageless but also from Captain Avatar, where I got some posts removed, that was comments to a person, these people, for reasons unknown to me, apparently didn't want me to post comments to.

And earlier tonight, I saw a very strange post by Ageless saying:

"Anyway, with CA \\"away from home\\", I expect everyone to behave as
bad as Beethoven, Robert Brooke, Fuzzy Hollynoodles and the
rest of that club does."

Needless to say I was not amused and reported that post as insulting to me and two other named people, he for some reasons, doesn't like.

So Hans, it's not only a question about circus and flamewar attractions in the Cafe, it's about a couple of moderators, who apparently can't behave as professional as they should.

Oh what fun... As if I am the only moderator around here. Anyway, Sir Ulli, I gave you the chance to talk through email, you refused.
I'll give this thread into the hands of another moderator now.

I was under the impression that forum moderator's did NOT have access to our email addresses. True or False?

They don't. When they delete a message and leave a comment an email is sent from the projects email account to the participants email account.

You guys just had to jump in there and take away my fleeting glory? I'm emailing Arnold. :-P

A little mod trick... delete a post... send your message to the person thru the "why was this post modded" feature (it goes to the email addr you signed up with)... undelete the post. But mods can't see your email addr or acct info any more than what you can see.

I really did not want to touch this one!

If you really want a Job that will turn your Life Upsidedown, then apply for a Forum Moderater Job...

It rates in the one of the "Most Dangerous Jobs" that you could ever have!

Back in the 90's I setup a Forum for a web site and then ended up having to Moderate it... I spent more time documenting why (during a hate campaign) certain posts were removed... Boy was I happy to get rid of that Job...

So as we all see the "Rules" when we click on New Post or Reply.. That is supposed to be "our" guide. Even though some words still need proper definition...

Is a "Forumite" close to a "Stalagmite?" or is it some bug that can be killed with a can of Raid?

Forums are always filled with "Opinion" and we all know that "Opinion is just like @ssholes," it all Stinks... It does manage to cause Hate and Discontent...

So as there are problems to be solved, can we please get back to solving problems?

Pappa

If you look closely in the post that Sir Ulli posted and that you quoted, you can see my email address there. I invited him to talk to me through email, he chose the forums.

I sent him that email when I deleted his post. I don't have access to anyone's email, but I can send emails through the delete/move option. The address then showing to have sent the email is the boincmods email address.
