Und zu Jochen: That far I do agree. But where to stop this? Don't I deserve more credits per hour, if I use an optimized client and do the same amount of work, only in a shorter time? (Please don't answer to this, as it has already been discussed over and over... I just want to state, on which side I stand.) As the most fun with BOINC is the multiple project aspect, it's even more important to get it even. I see the logic behind this. But I still do not agree, as long, as it comes at the cost of the possibility to do a project internal comparision. There would have been better ways to solve that problems. But it is not the credits situation, why I stopped running SETI. It is the whole situation and the way it has been handled by the staff. But don't worry, I still crunch for SG (Rosetta and Einstein). |

Hi, here is what I get with my AMD XP 2000+ (Win98 SE). Standard Boinc client 5.4.9 Standard applications SETI@home 5.15 (average of 8 results): cc/h: 5.10 gc/h: 5.10 Einstein@home Albert 4.37 (average of 11 results): cc/h: 8.65 gc/h: 7.09 Regards, Carsten |

Things need to be worked out yet: With just one of my two PD950 machines I get something like 22 credits per hour for half-hour units, 14 credits per hour for three-to-four hour ones and only 7.5 credits per hour for 8-hour units. This is entirely within Seti: a factor of three at least. No telling what that would have done with cancer, AIDS, Einstein or CPDN. I've never tried any other project. This looks pretty typical with me, too. It looks like a pattern. There is the graph tray and occasional fifties music. I don't know how much these affect PD950s. I'm sure they would've really hurt PIII 450s but that is a bygone. |

But it is not the credits situation, why I stopped running SETI. It is the whole situation and the way it has been handled by the staff. The only mistake made by the staff was assuming most people here were adults & were capable of behaving accordingly. And i still feel their time is better spent developing the system than dealing with children with upset egos. Grant Darwin NT |

But it is not the credits situation, why I stopped running SETI. It is the whole situation and the way it has been handled by the staff. Our "egos" as you call it, did not become involved until we started being belittled and demeaned and called names, much as you are doing now. We came here to address certain issues (which I thought was one of the main purposes of this MB) and tried to do so in as profesional a manner as we could. It was some of the regulars here who started acting like children with the name calling and such. And apparently it is going to continue. Eric, please do not forget to check with the rest of the team about a way to ensure better moderation. I still think a complete sweep of all moderators and a way of voting on their effectiveness to put/keep them in office is the way to go. |

Our "egos" as you call it, did not become involved until we started being belittled and demeaned and called names, much as you are doing now. Old ground, waste of time responding. I still think a complete sweep of all moderators and a way of voting on their effectiveness to put/keep them in office is the way to go. Considering the stupidity that went on the the post rating, there is no way that would work. Grant Darwin NT |

I still think a complete sweep of all moderators and a way of voting on their effectiveness to put/keep them in office is the way to go. So you may think, but Eric has agreed to look into it and you may end up stuck with it or something similar before it is over. Based on my e-mails to Dr. Anderson about the issues, he may well be a driving force on the issue as well. So please, go into the corner and hold your breath. |

BTW- my previous post about children with upset egos was refering to both sides. That you assumed it was directed at you- well, i suggest you think about that for a while. Grant Darwin NT |

So please, go into the corner and hold your breath. I made no assumption that it was directed at me. It does not matter who you directed it at, it still is uncalled for and unprofessional. It is that kind of thing that caused so much heartache and discontent on the MB and you are just continuing it. So do us all a favor and cut it out. |

Is there any way for moderators to move messages to a different thread? Here, for example, we’ve been asked to post data, and it must be annoying having to hunt for the actual statistics being contributed here and there. Not that the peripheral discussion has been entirely unproductive, let alone particularly offensive, but there are plenty of other threads where it would be more topical. |

Eric I know that you saw this in the Spreadsheet made a comment or I did about the oddity, but the more I look at it could a quasi typical machine in the environment... And the longer it runs in this fashion the more interesting it gets... The good part the Quorum is taking care of part of the Credit Claim... The machine does not have enough data points to see if anyone is getting anything by... 4.45 is not the healthiest for the Enhanced operation... The Credit claims are based on the benchmark and the quorum takes care of things or I am missing something. What I really think I see is the Credit Claims are based on the benchmark... I will attempt insure I do not loose any results before the outage... The spreadsheet is almost double of the first one I sent... On machine is moved from Seti to Einstein and will get that data in... The last note is some machines are getting larger than 30% credit difference to the AR... It is affect by the CPU type and speed... I guess in some circumstances you need to setup a query or two in beta... If users can start tracking Beta and Seti differences in the same fashion then into some form of spreadsheet or something that would export a CSV file... Seti Proper is tougher as the Results get removed weekly (I cursed that, it almost made me quite keeping information a couple of times)... I apologize to everyone this is going to cause a scroll bar... Clyde Things need to be worked out yet: With just one of my two PD950 machines I get something like 22 credits per hour for half-hour units, 14 credits per hour for three-to-four hour ones and only 7.5 credits per hour for 8-hour units. This is entirely within Seti: a factor of three at least. No telling what that would have done with cancer, AIDS, Einstein or CPDN. I've never tried any other project. I'm sure they would've really hurt PIII 450s but that is a bygone. Here is a PII 350 I cranked for Beta I can add the PII 400... It was moved over here at Eric's request... It does not move very fast but it is moving... It is not the Slowest machine over at Seti Beta, but it is moving... Once again this the the information that is needed to help correct the Credit Issue... If people can track this information and send it to me then I can put it a format that makes it easier for Eric to work with... Tracking it weekly in Seti is a bit tougher... The more different Angle Ranges and CPU types the better... I am sure that Eric will let us know when he has enough... Once Again the Scrollbars are already set... Over the last six month I have come to wonder why my statistics chart in Boinc is not reflecting the high proportion of time I assign to SETI. I come seeking enlightenment and here you are already on the case. Wonderful! Mac G5 using only stock clients. SECONDS -- CREDIT -- CPU Seconds per Credit Einstein 10,073 -- 27.11 -- 372 11,191 -- 29.99 -- 373 Rosetta 10,625 -- 27.26 -- 390 11,693 -- 30.22 -- 387 9,418 -- 24.34 -- 387 10,483 -- 27.09 -- 387 SZTAKI 1,050 -- 2.69 -- 390 881 -- 2.25 -- 392 1,513 -- 3.91 -- 387 568 -- 1.47 -- 386 SETI 29,378 -- 62.01 -- 474 22,582 -- 48.57 -- 465 21,834 -- 47.03 -- 464 22,843 -- 52.57 -- 434 So the top three above are averaging 385 seconds work per credit whereas SETI is taking an average of 459 seconds on my Mac. It will be interesting to see if the above calculations are reflected on Windows and Linux. Not that any of the above matters a jot to the science. But we humans are funny little creatures. Even being cheated out of imaginary credit is enough to bend our fragile little egos out of shape. |

But it's important to say that the distance the scope moves through the sky during a workunit is called the "Angle Range" and not "Angel Range". We're talking about degrees of arc here and not what somebody turns into if he/she goes to heaven (per many religions). |
