Message 337492 - Posted: 15 Jun 2006, 7:22:54 UTC - in response to Message 337489.

'John'...lol....perhaps there is a cultural difference at work.

When someone is addressed by their last name here it is considered a sign of respect, not derision.

When someone addresses me as 'Brooke' instead of 'Robert' it means he respects my title, name, and so forth. The sirname is the cultural title. Maybe you and I do not understand eachother

This is the first time I have noticed this difference between our two cultures.
Strange.
Using the surname of a person here is not so much derision, more of a 'de-personalisation' as in schoolteacher addressing pupil, officers addressing troops etc.

Someone mentioned Google on the board earlier.

Which reminded me of this.

Is Google really trying to be a world dominating, lifestyle changing behemoth
as Microspoof has already become?

Point taken Robert.

Reasonable doubt sometimes leads to unreasonable results when it comes to the law.

* pokes Robert with the same spear *

How much doubt would be considered " reasonable doubt " Robert? lol

Seriously though...there is a problem historic of philosophy. It's called the 'Beard Problem'.

Noone has ever solved it. I've racked my brain over it and cannot solve it.

The beard problem is this....(NOTE THE ENTIRE PROBLEM IS ISSUABLE TO MANY LIFE SITUATIONS...'beard' is just a metaphor)

A man has one hair on his face...is that a beard?

He has 2 hairs....is that a beard?

At what point does it become a beard? Sooner or later you and I recognize a man with a beard but where does it begin?

When do men become an 'army'....
When does a crop of trees become a forest?. These are human concepts, abstract but truthful and useful...'reasonable doubt' is obtainable but should be utterly scrutinized as a standard. Noone wants to use that standard wrongly and especially against innocently targeted people. The rest of the law is geared toward resolving civic disputes....and that standard is legally lower.

LOL...leave Rush alone. He's minding his own business and makes incredibly accurate points........

Now, the Marilyn Monroe thing...everything seems to point to accidental suicide yet their is room for disagreement with how her body was found and so forth. Those things leave doubt in my mind. I'm not necessarily saying 'reasonable doubt'....just doubt

Well done Enigma and Sleestak!
That's one conspiracy theory that has been running for 30+
years finally brought to a successful conclusion.

Excellent.
Would you like to continue in the same vein and solve the
'Who shot Kennedy?' question please?

Sure, JFK wanted to overturn the state department. These fellows have a job for life and have power over all kinds of national issues. They really don't answer to anyone and they've been able to build the department with the people they like (not elected). This is a known problem and JFK wanted to fix it.

Politician causes trouble ==== Politician disappears.
Oswald caught (could cause trouble) ==== Oswald disappears.
Ruby hired through mafia ==== no trouble because the connection is lost.

Double ditto.... this is far too much agreement. We need something with teeth, something a bit more controvercial and conspiratorial!!
Belief gets in the way of learning

Homer: Yeah. When I started this clown thing, I thought it would be nothing but glory. You know, the glory of being a clown. I tell you, it's hard, tiring work. But when I see the smiles on their little faces, I just know they're getting ready to jab me with something.

It has always been a comfort to me to know that there is no conspiracy theory so stupid that some people won't believe it. It restore's my faith in the utter knuckleheaded character of the human species. To paraphrase H.L. Mencken:

"No one ever went broke by underestimating the intelligence of the American public."

Well...if we are all a bunch of knuckleheads...then you being here is rather pointless. If you don't want to discuss the theories, then don't post. Thank you.

Knightmare, I am part of the counter lunar nazi insurgent army

For some strange reason, this doesn't even SLIGHTLY surprise me Robert.

I always thought the Moon was made of Gouda, myself.
