I understand, but I am saying that I had that problem when I tried to change the password in the file. Just a thought...

Also, the password that gets generated in that file is the one you would use to manage it remotely. It should be some long thing that looks like aeh3kdjdnsksjrksks0193 or something. I usually copy and paste it into boincview to remote control my boxes.

the thing is i dont remote controll my box! i only have 3 and i controll them all directly!

this is when i try to start the manager directly by runing the exacutable in teh BOINC folder
nbo remote admin at all! am sat infront of the pc , the only thing between teh keyboard and PC is a KVM swich!

Found more detail at: http://boincview.amanheis.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=296

It mentions your problem exactly.

It should be some long thing that looks like aeh3kdjdnsksjrksks0193 or something.

It's a randomly generated 32 character hexadecimal key. So it only uses 0-9 and a-f.

Point taken, but I was just typing garbage randomly for an example. :-)

Sorry, I don't have a client to look here at work. I meant the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file. Just move it to your home directory or something and restart boinc.

The only time I ever got that error was when I tried to change the password in the remote_gui.cfg file. I was going to set a standard password across all of my clients and ended up with that error. Try to remove your remote_gui.cfg file (or maybe just move it somewhere else) and restart everything.

this is all teh files in my boinc folder, which one shoudl i move?
