now im getting loads of work un its with pre-empted can anyone explain from seti as to what this means please, my cred is getting low and lower because of this boinc can only crunch 1 wu per processor core at once, so if like me you also contribute to other boinc prodjects (like einsein@home) then you will allways have more than 1 WU on the go at once, provided you only have 1 processor (not dual core either) then you will se e1 WU as running, all the other preempted WUs as preempted and any not yet to be strted as ready to run. currently i have 1 einstein unit running, 1 seti preempted and 1 seti ready to run, untill my last scedualar there was also 1 einstein compleate |

If you do nothing, all work will be completed and returned on time, and in turn the pre-empted units will be finished. |

Note that when running multiple projects in the normal “round-robin modeâ€, BOINC shows all the WUs in process (i.e. for which computation has begun, as opposed to the “ready†ones in the queue), except for the one(s) actually crunching, as “preemptedâ€. I guess it’s mainly people who only run S@h that are suspecting something out of the ordinary. Something for the New Users or FAQ threads? |

now im getting loads of work un its with pre-empted can anyone explain from seti as to what this means please, my cred is getting low and lower because of this Lower Credits has nothing to do with preempted Work Units. If BOINC even SUSPECTS that a WU will not be completed by the Deadline or your system is overcommitted, it will preempt the current work and start working on the WUs with the shortest Deadlines. This is a feature and is very helpful with the widely varying Deadlines we're seeing now. As an example, I recently downloaded a group of WUs that included some that were due before the 30th. BOINC immediately preempted the current work in favor the work due before the 30th. Once those WUs were done, BOINC went back to processing the work it had preempted. Whatever you do, do not abort the preempted Work Units.

Hello! This function is with the Truxoft Boinc V5.3.12.tx36 too? I ask this... because my buttons in the overview "WUs" are without function! I cannot sort according to certain conditions... For example... progressed... expiration date... And when I remember right, this functions was in the "original" Boinc V5.2.13, or? Greetings! Question to the answer of mikey: Time limits mean nothing when the computer is looking for earliest due date. The fact that you "could" get it done in time means nothing. If the computer has downloaded a unit that is due sooner than the one you are/were working on it will preempt the current unit and do the units with the date due soonest to Berkeley then go back and do the rest. |

i got a status on a work unit which says is pre-empted. what does this mean and what can i do to make this work unit back to running mode status Go back into the Boinc manager, the icon, and look under tasks, you will see that the units that is actually running has a due to Berkeley date prior to the one that is pre-empted. When those units with the older dates are done the other units will be processed.
