So what's new in 5.15?

Mainly a bug-fix for Win9x timer problems, from what I gather.

And even longer times...lol

I'm helping Kelly... This is her... friend.

Did anyone by any chance had your wireless router lock up on you and you had to unplug and replug to allow network activity to work within the last few hours?

I have a Netgear router, a Belkin wireless card in the tower system and an Acer wireless enabled laptop. Sometimes after being on for a random length of time the two systems seem to start contending for the same ummm... channel, timeslot, address or something, as they both repeatedly go into some sort or renegotiation mode.

They repeatedly connect and then fall off the network again. Most frustrating. A router power off/on normally sorts it out.

Paul.

(I love it when things work out as planned...)

@ Kelly's friend... I also am on Cable Modem, and I concur with what has been posted before me; whenever Adelphia, (or whomever your cable company is), does work on a trunk, fiber node, or work within their own local office that affects your area - you will experience low bandwidth or outage(s)... We have had 3 outages of the Broadband in 2 years... The last one was 2-Weeks ago; however, it wasn't the cable company's fault... A home builder in our area CUT THE FIBER NODE TO THE TRUNK!!! LOL (IDIOT BUILDER!!!) We were out for 16 Hours, and it happened to coincide with a Tuesday SETI Backup session as well... 8-(

Otherwise; we have had smooth sailing on our Broadband Cable Line(s)... 6MB Download, (speed tested), and 768K Upload... 8-D

I'm not sure if something is attacking our router or if it had some strange thing in correlation to this 5.15 SE app or if it was just dumb luck to correlate with this version update.

I think it's pure coincidental. I have a wireless router and I haven't seen anything like what you describe.

But maybe you should take a check on your firewall to see the log, and then run some antispyware programs, just to feel safe?

And believe me, there's nothing wrong with the 5.15 application, it has been tested out several days now over at Seti Beta.

Happy crunching. :-)

Yeah coincidental...I haven't noticed anything with the 5.15 file...

I use a cabled router, but yes it has locked up ocassionally. Every time it is when the cable company has been doing their maintenance/repair work. In most cases this has been during the night. It quite often also locks up the cable TV box as well.

Ahhhh!! Muy Bien! That would explain why my newer work unit wasn't running at all. I stretch the Application column and read "setiathome_enhanced5.15". It was originally chopped off after the "e" in enhanced, hehehehe.

All this time I thought it was some spyware application trying to steal my password to my... something.

Thanks! I can now be at ease! *kiss* ;-)
