all units hang on my athlon 2000 os winxp
get to max of .020% and return to 0 and so on indefinitely
happened with 512 ,i tried crunchers app as well same problem and now 515 is the same
worked fine for 418 before the enhanced came out
tried reinstall of boinc etc no fix i can find
anyone got any ideas ?

This problem came up in beta, however I thought it was fixed (if this is the same problem). It seems that some processors and os versions don't like to have the wu removed from memory when it's not running. Have you got your preferences for "leave application in memory while preempted" set to "yes"? If not, try setting it to "yes" and update your preferences. This will mean that it will take up a little swap space while it's not actually running however it should fix your problem.

ill just shut down that pc and give it a go each time a new app comes out

Sounds like Enhanced is still beta, or maybe RC. But it doesn't really sound like it's ready for prime time. I'm sure glad I still have 4.18 work to do, hopefully Enhanced will be a little more reliable by the time I finish them in about a week.

Had a few units like that meself. I close down BOINC completely, restart it, and the WU either finishes immediately or within a few minutes.

Certainly the CPU and Remaining times are completely different when I restart Boinc. Hopefully the .15.exe currently being distributed will fix it.

Natch, I normally find that it's got stuck after being at work all day, or first thing in the morning after it's been chuntering away for hours doing nowt. Hey ho.

Took the easy way out and simply aborted it, then Projects, Seti@home, update.
The work unit running now is past 1% after 3 mins. This is the only work unit that has ever done this on either of my two machines.

I presume Seti will figure out the rest. Things like why this unit behaves this way, and if it behaves the same way with other users.

This work unit appears to hang. The time to completion increases one-for-one with the cpu time, and the Progress says at 0.01% after a day and a half.

I see that this WU is assigned to your WinXp host.

I've had a few that seemed to get 'stuck'.

Download and run Process Explorer www.sysinternals.com.

While the Boinc Manager is indicating that the seti task is in a running state:

[ You have to unzip into a folder, then run from that folder ]

Scroll down to the Setiathome task, right click, and select 'properties' from the dropdown menu.

Select the Threads tab, and you should see three threads. select the middle one [ setiathome....exe. See if the State: says 'Wait:suspended'.

If it does indicate 'suspended', click on the 'resume' button. The task should start working.

Which of your computers is that unit on and is anenhanced unit. I see you have a Win9x computer if it is on that one there is a known timer bug, it is still being investigated/worked on in the Beta trial, see 5.15 in Win9X on the Beta site.

Enhanced units can take up to 8 times the average for the older 4.18 see Sorter deadlines the first post by Ingleside.

These units usually do finish and because you use a fpops counting BOINC client will still claima and be granted the correct credits.

Try exit and re-start of BOINC that can sometimes re-start the clock.
