Thanks for the good work crunch3r have been using your apps for a while now and I have to say they are top notch!

So as i understand it there is no need for a calibrating client as enhanced works in a different way, right?

Just one thing I didn't really understand on your website..."NOTE: Signal counting only works properly if the application stays in memory" Does this mean that Boinc must be running all the time or exiting it will damage the WU beyond repair?

Thanks in advance

The signal counters are a feature added to the app. and it looks that way:

Windows optimized S@H Enhanced application by Crunch3r
Version info: Windows SSE3 V5.12 by Crunch3r

Work Unit Info:
...............
WU true angle range is : 0.4265

Flopcounter: 16137557509062.465000

Spike count: 2
Pulse count: 0
Triplet count: 0
Gaussian count: 0

Anyhow the result will not be affected by stoping/restarting boinc or the app.
the only thing is that the counters will differ.

Hmmm seems I spoke too soon!

I'm using the enhanced set optimised by crunch3r which seems to work fine, however when I exit boinc and restart it I get the error thats somthing along the lines of "result in wrong state active parse ()" edit:"2006-05-09 00:53:38 [SETI@home] ACTIVE_TASK::parse(): result is in wrong state" and the result is aborted then boinc downloads the normal enhanced client. I think i'm doing something wrong but essentially all i've done is a fresh install of the BOINC client then swapped the enhanced seti app file with crunch3rs optimised enhanced app file?

Any advice guys?

I assume a app_info file is not needed with the latest 5.12

As long as the file name is the same it will work, but when a new version is released then boinc will download it and overwrite your current one.

I got the same errors as M2MG.

The optimized 5.12 got replaced when I did an update.

That's why it's always good to use app_info.xml when using an optimized client, to prevent updates when the project checksum (or whatever other method used to check for incorrect versions) comes up negative. The app_info.xml tells the project, "Hey, don't worry about it... I'm fine with what I've got" ;)

Check the other Enhanced threads, especially Running Optimized & Enhanced... there's a bunch of variations of the app_info.xml there..

I had to get rid of my trux client in order for this one to work, for some reason boinc wanted to crash every time it tried to start the enhanced worker.

Using the "default" boinc it works perfectly!

Thanks Crunch3r!

Is this true that crunch3r's new app won't work with trux's client? I need trux's client for einstein. Also the part about has to stay in memory sucks the big one. I have been running seti beta for months and boinc for almost 2 years with leave in memory set to NO and it always worked. I don't want to keep all the projects that I run in memory!! It would cause unneeded swapping of files. Please Crunch3r, refine your app so that I too can continue to use optimized apps for seti as I have done so for the past year.

And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer.

Please someone, post the right app_info for us.

This one seems to work for me. _seems_ is the key word, I'm far from sure, with only a few hours of experience.

If it does what I wish, it allows continued operation of an existing crunch3r ap for the previous SETI, assuming you did not rename the files. It also assumes you don't rename the new (5.12 flavor posted May 8) file.

If you try it, please, please post your good or bad experience with it here.

My try at a dual-mode app_info.xml to support crunch3r 5.12 and 4.11:

<app_info>
    <app>
        <name>setiathome</name>
    </app>
    <file_info>
        <name>setiathome_4.11_windows_intelx86.exe</name>
        <executable/>
    </file_info>
    <app_version>
        <app_name>setiathome</app_name>
        <version_num>411</version_num>
        <file_ref>
            <file_name>setiathome_4.11_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name>
            <main_program/>
        </file_ref>
    </app_version>
    <app>
        <name>setiathome</name>
    </app>
    <file_info>
        <name>setiathome_4.18_windows_intelx86.exe</name>
        <executable/>
    </file_info>
    <app_version>
        <app_name>setiathome</app_name>
        <version_num>418</version_num>
        <file_ref>
            <file_name>setiathome_4.11_windows_intelx86.exe</file_name>
            <main_program/>
        </file_ref>
    </app_version>
    <app>
        <name>setiathome_enhanced</name>
    </app>
    <file_info>
	<name>setiathome_5.12_windows_intelx86.exe</name>
	<executable/>
    </file_info>

So how much of an improvement in speed over the original 5.12 is the optimized one? I saw 300% speed improvement in the last version (4.11). Is it even close to that now?

I tried the new 5.12 sse2 seti enhanced from 2006/05/08 from Crunch3r together with the Trux-Client and it works fine. Here you can see the last WU which started with 5.11, continued with 5.12 and using 5.3.12.tx36 -->76908136
Happy crunching
Thanks to Crunch3r

Crunch3r's v5.11 for Enhanced used an identically named .pdb file. Does version 5.12 also need a .pdb file, or is it now built into the app with the new versions of ICC and IPP???

Regards, Daniel.

Went to download this AM, the files are all missing!!!

Just wanted to let people know that they are currently unavailable. Maybe when Crunch3r wakes up, he can fix this.

Yes, Ingleside mentioned the missing "Required files in another thread. Perhaps Crunch3r can include the missing files, heck, maybe that's what he's doing now, bringing his stuff into compliance?.
