...if you had not been working on the optimized apps the standard app would not be running as well as it does and I thank you for that as well.
:)

Well we (my beta testers and me) had nothing to do with that except testing one of Joe Segures patches before it was officialy integrated into the standard enhanced app.

Actually (might sound stupid) i made a promise that i'll release the optimized app. when enhanced goes public and i keep what i promised.

And thats the way it should be. I totally appriciate you and all your beta testers for optmized apps. But since they threw a monkey wrench into the mix I would much rather wait till things stablize till I re-download the optimized app, as I'm not too keen on trying to change app_info stuff. :-) I'm a patient person.

My first enhanced work unit recycled back to zero an hour ago. The work unit was beyond 30 percent completed after eight hours of processing but is now at 5.23 percent.

Hi All

Since moving to Seti enhanced v5.1.2 around 9 in 10 of my work units fail to complete with the following message. "12/05/2006 00:03:30|SETI@home|Unrecoverable error for result 01mr99aa.26277.30545.972158.3.131_0 ( - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005))" Obviously the date and WU ref change but the exit code is always the same. Does anyone know what this specific exit code means?

Any enlightenment would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I just sent setiathome enhanced 5.13 darwin to Jeff to be signed and put into mix. Charlie thinks this should allow machines down to OS X 10.3.2 to work properly. The OS X intel version should also be coming out at the same time.

I've got an iMac that's trashing every single result (after only a few seconds) with this message:

<core_client_version>5.2.13</core_client_version>
<message>process got signal 5
</message>
<stderr_txt>
dyld: setiathome-5.12.powerpc-apple-darwin Undefined symbols:
setiathome-5.12.powerpc-apple-darwin undefined reference to _atanf expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib
setiathome-5.12.powerpc-apple-darwin undefined reference to _cosf expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib
setiathome-5.12.powerpc-apple-darwin undefined reference to _sinf expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib

</stderr_txt>

It's G3 processor running OS 10.3.5, and it was handling SETI@home fine until the upgrade. (Boinc is running as a service.) The results page for this machine is almost solid pink. I've set SETI@home to "nomorework" for now.

If you can unhide your computers, I could look at the detailed error messages. It's likely that this is the problem that happens in the JPEG library. If so, I'm working on a fix.

THat exit code was mentioned earlier in this thread and it was determined that this means that you have a corrupt seti512.jpg file. You can d/l a replacement file from the Berkeley servers here .

The same error has also, but only occasionally happened to me as well. Can you please explain how a graphic can waste so much of my computer's time? The file already on the computer looked fine to me but I have downloaded a new one anyway. Fingers crossed, but surely this sort of fault can be eliminated elsewhere?

Once the how is known, then the why can be figured out. Once the why has been figured out then the solution can be determined.

Igot stuck on one WU:

26fe99aa.5731.26194.823572.3.199

After almost 20 hours of crunching, I had to restart the computer (Windows Update). When BOINC restarted, the CPU Time for that WU was only one hour!

Now it's 7 hours and it's stuck on 42.24% for a long time, so I'm gonna abort it.

There is an SE 5.13 application, but we're testing that in Seti Beta. Sounds like there was a cross-over going on here. Or is it released here as well?

I've now got a batch of errors about 514 too:

Apparently, using an app_info.xml file is causing this.

Cununch3r apl shou;d not be used for beta.
That is te only place that 5.14 shows up.
They cannot find bugs if you use a different one other than the standard one.
Edit
I also have these message

Boinc must have confused the beta project with the the sdtandard setiathome project.
Unless the schedler is confused.
Setiat home still claims 5.12 is the enhanced version, except for mac which is 5.13.

Here's one to puzzle over.

WinXpHome-SP2 P4+HT.

Boinc 5.4.9, Seti-Enhanced 5.08

I had one WU 'hang' at about 95% the other day and aborted it, 'cause I didn't know what else to do at the time.

Just had another one 'hang', at about 93% done.

[EDIT]

I first tried Suspend/Resume in BOINC Manager, but it still came up 'hung'

[\\EDIT]

This time I ran Process Explorer, and selected the seti task, right clicked and selected properties.

The window lists 3 modules, 2 seti...exe and one ..dll.

I selected the second seti module, and noticed that it was in a wait-suspend state.

I took a chance and clicked on the resume button in the window, and the task ran to completion.

I don't know how the task got set to that wait-suspend state, as I hadn't touched anything.

Of course it doesn't help that I was half asleep. :-(

Really should be 5.12

[sigh]

And this morning the same thing happened on another computer, and I did the same thing to get it going again. This one 'hung' at about 38% done.

This computer is similar to the first one reported.

WinXpHome-SP2, etc.
