Surely it depends on who did the optimising. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge.

Akosf's optimized app for Einstein still has the graphics, still with massive improvement in speed. Thus graphics disabled maybe the norm for most optimized apps but I don't think that it is the default. |

You can go and minus this too, since I now consider it as a badge of hono(u)r knowing where it's coming from. Account frozen... |

Nope. To my knowledge, only older CRT monitors (Like our favourite apple machines) suffer from phosphor burn. Still worried? Right click on your desktop, choose properties, then choose the screen saver tab. Click settings and you can set it to turn to a black screen after a time. All advanced users here don't even do that since the graphics is disabled by default with the optimized clients, and is therefore unavailable. But we know, that you knew, that anyway since your stats bear that out. Thank you for your illuminating input. Account frozen... |

Is it just me, or is anyone else worried about the SETI logo in the screen saver, lower left, burning a "hole" in their screen??? ALL monitors will suffer "burn in" if left on long enough! NO it is not in a reasonable amount of time for newer monitors. Yes the ideal way would be to stop paying that elctric company so much of your hard earned money and use the power button that comes with EVERY monitor. No more burn in problems! AND more money in your pocket. Think of it this way, for every monitor you leave running you are running a 40 watt light bulb. Do you go to bed at night with the lights on? I don't.

Right click on your desktop, choose properties, then choose the screen saver tab. Click settings and you can set it to turn to a black screen after a time. Me neither. I don't have any screensavers, as they take away processor power from the main thing: crunching. So my screen goes black after 10 minutes. If I want to see the graphics, I click the "Show graphics" button. "I'm trying to maintain a shred of dignity in this world." - Me

Is it just me, or is anyone else worried about the SETI logo in the screen saver, lower left, burning a "hole" in their screen??? If you will notice... most of the items on the screen saver are moving around, but the SETI logo, in the lower left of the screen, stays still and doesn't even change colors. It is a shade of white, so it WILL burn a "hole" in the screen if the monitor is left on for any ammount of time. I experimented with this thought by using a 'Junk' monitor that I was gonna toss out anyway, and sure enough, there is a "burned in" image of the SETI logo in the lower left of the screen. A way to stop this possibility is to have it change colors, at least, or have it disappear after a small ammount of time after the screen activates.... Is there any thoughts about this 'worry'??
