Because [View computers] of [Your Account] shows the same Name of two computers of different Computer ID's, I tried to [merge computers], but it failed. I guess that this situation takes place because SETI@home can be connected via two different URLs: 'http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/' and 'http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/'. I think this situation should be removed somehow. |

It looks like you created a new host record when you upgraded from OS X 10.3 to 10.4. If they will not merge, then when all the results have timed out and been deleted on the older one, you will be able to delete it. |

I looked at your computers... Where you've got two computers with the same CPU types (PowerMac5,1 and PowerMac10,2), each of the pair is showing as having a different operating system (Darwin 8.4.0 and Darwin 8.3.0). Unless those pieces of information are the same for each computer you're trying to merge, they won't be able to. The URLs that you're using to connect have different purposes, and nothing to do with computer identities. Once a host has no more results showing, it can be removed from your account, so you will only have the active computers listed. MJ |

So, I am safe to understand that it wouldn't influence the system's credit accounting if I delete the thread for older version of OS which I do not run any more. Showing credit per computer is only for client's convenience. Right ? |

By the way, What is the intent of providing two entrances(URLs) ? |

By the way, Updates and changes. Last I checked there were actually like 5 URLs that would work for seti. The official one is http://setiathome.berkeley.edu using anything else may stop working at any time (though I bet the one with ssl in it will be just as permenent). It seems the gate with 'ssl' has been closed. I shouldn't have brought this issue here. As an average participant, I'm not very much interrested in managerial details. |
